This position pays $28 an hour Responsibilities * Set up and align forms for concrete according to blueprints or plans. * Mix, pour, and spread concrete in specified proportions. * Smooth, level, and finish freshly poured concrete using trowels, floats, and screeds. * Monitor the effects of weather conditions on concrete curing and make necessary adjustments. * Apply sealing and hardening components to cure surfaces. * Create textured or decorative surfaces by imprinting patterns in fresh concrete. * Cut expansion joints into concrete using saws and cutting tools. * Clean and maintain tools and equipment. * Supervise and train junior workers on proper techniques and tool usage. * Maintain a clean job site; picks up tools and equipment. * Other duties as assigned. Qualified applicants will have experience working on Heavy Civil, Roadway, or Bridge Projects. The concrete finisher is responsible for the overall quality of leveling and texturizing of concrete pavements, sidewalks, driveways, etc., on concrete surfaces on our jobs. Job DescriptionSalary: $22-$26 DOE The Journeyman Concrete Finisher is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled concrete finishing duties on construction projects. This role includes placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete surfaces for sidewalks, driveways, roads, curbs, floors, and foundations. The position requires a high degree of craftsmanship, the ability to read construction drawings, and adherence to safety protocols on active job sites. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Set concrete forms and ensure proper alignment, depth, and pitch. Pour, level, and smooth concrete using rakes, screeds, and trowels. Apply curing compounds, waterproofing, and surface hardeners. Use hand and power tools such as floats, troweling machines, and edgers to achieve the desired finish. General Description A Concrete Finisher is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. A Concrete Finisher typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required Must be a minimum of 18 years old. Work Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in concrete finishing; preferably in curb and gutter/sidewalk. Candidate must have a good work ethic and work as a team player. Meet departmental grooming and performance standards and have a regular and predictable attendance. A valid driver's license with a good MVR is preferred but not required. Heavy physical demands: Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required. Physical activity: Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position.
