Job Summary: Performs nursing care responsibilities with supervision to ensure safe and consistent patient quality care. .Performs all duties and tasks of a Mental Health Tech along with the additional duties listed below
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A minimum of 18 months experience working as a mental health technician or equivalent position at the Brattleboro Retreat or an equivalent hospital inpatient organization.
2. Completed Behavioral Health Academy or an equivalent combination of education and experience to equal an additional one year.
3. Bachelor's degree in human services degree preferred.
4. During employment at the Retreat, has continually exhibited initiative in milieu management, exemplary communication with peers and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Functional Patient Care Job Tasks
Leads and coaches the MHT unit team in standard job tasks.
Develops assignment sheet at the start of each shift keeping in mind the strengths and weaknesses of each team member. Ensure that each team member has completed all educational requirements for their assigned job task---e.g., Courtyard Safety Monitor, Early Responder, etc.
In partnership with Charge RN, provides milieu leadership-e.g. provides input on patient room changes, helps staff to know and follow unit rules consistently, anticipates issues and provides proactive solutions.
Oversees completion of all unit safety tasks throughout the shift including environmentals, off-unit patient lists, sharps counts, etc.

Assists with planning and implementation of VNH Long Term Care Service programs under the direction of the Long Term Care Service Director. Qualifications
This position is designed to support community members and law enforcement by responding to calls related to mental health, substance abuse, and other social service needs by providing immediate support and referral to resources for community members.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide crisis support to individuals struggling with various challenges including mental health and substance use. Provide referral to resources that offer support and treatment to individuals struggling with mental health and substance use. Resource referrals may include clinical treatment, peer supports, housing, financial, medical, legal, transportation, food insecurity, and employment. Assist law enforcement in providing crisis support on calls to stabilize and connect individuals to the proper system of care. Provide referrals for ongoing care for community members who have used law enforcement as a service entry point regularly to divert them to proper service providers without engaging with law enforcement.
CONSULTATION AND EDUCATION SERVICES: Provides mental health and/or substance use consultation to community at large, area agencies, the professional community, and/or schools as required. Consultation can be educational or evaluative in nature. Specific areas of consultation/education are based on clinician's areas of expertise or interest. Provides liaison services among community agencies to coordinate services to clients.
CLINICAL CASE MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL SUPPORT:
Provides concurrent case management services on an as needed basis. These services may include service coordination with other agencies and services; collateral contacts with other family members or significant others in client's life; telephone support to clients or collaterals; social support services for locating, developing, or providing care services; or treatment planning session.
