Stephens Memorial Hospital has a job opening for 4 Full Time Licensed Vocational Nurses to work in the Med-Surg Department. Sign on bonus available. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Licensed Vocational Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver nursing care to an individual or group of patients and accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the health care team. Provides an optimal, achievable quality of nursing care for patients across their lifespan. Assesses and documents the effects of this care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Works cooperatively with allied, nursing, and other support personnel to maintain standards for nursing practice. These nursing functions of the LVN are carried out according to system standards of care, the hospital mission statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY: Ability to determine priorities of care based on the need for immediate intervention under the direction of a registered nurse. Ability to maintain a professional relationship with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff by demonstrating appropriate interpersonal skills and demeanor. Ability to prepare and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Ability to observe, record, and report signs/symptoms and response to care. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing. Maintains a current license with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners for Vocational Nursing Current card for the successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR Healthcare Provider) within 6 months of hire. Completion of competency skill courses, such as intravenous therapy within one year per hospital Standard of Practice. ACLS preferred.
