Description:
Implements Head Start Performance Standards to 3- 5 years olds in a classroom setting. Has the ability to respond to events happening at all times in the classroom and outdoor play. This includes the physical ability to move quickly in order to respond to children who are very active and may need redirection or restraint in order to ensure their safety or the safety of others in the environment. Ensures a safe environment for the children while applying Early Childhood Development theory in daily activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Classroom Time / School Readiness
Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and other staff.

Supervises and monitors children at all times and responds appropriately to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
Guides the behavior of children in positive and effective ways.
Adheres to a consistent schedule that includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.
Encourages experimentation, exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making; asks open-ended questions and follow-up questions to promote further learning and thinking.
Promotes English language acquisition of children who are English- and Dual-Language learners.
Releases children only to individuals with appropriate signed consent.
Follows agency-adopted curricula, using effective strategies to guide learning.
Prepares the classroom environment and materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans and learning experiences.
Assesses individual and group needs, attending to specific interests, strengths, and concerns.
Works with appropriate agencies to develop specialized planning for children and families as needed.
Coordinates with support staff when indicated, developing a collaborative approach that benefits all children in the classroom.
Adapts curriculum to address and meet individual goals for children as identified in their individualized family service plans (IFSP).
Develops and utilizes integrated curriculum plans which reflect mandated elements and components, familial and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children.
Establishes weekly goals that promote individual and group educational plans and include other Head start components.
Participates in integrated service meetings to plan for and deliver collaborative services across all components.
Family Engagement and Community Partnerships
Provides an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces family and volunteer engagement.
Supports the role of families as the first and primary teachers of their children.
Supports families' safety, health, financial stability, life goals, and aspirations.
Maintains regular communication with families based on the family's individual needs.
Conducts the required parent/teacher conferences and home visits for the purpose of assessment and support, and to share information on classroom progress and educational strategies at school and at home. Provide additional home visits if needed.
Assists in the planning and participates in family activity events.
Coordinates with the Family Advocates (FAs) as needed to assist families to complete follow-ups (i.e. dental, medical, physical and mental health needs of families, etc.)
Coordinates with the Early Childhood Education Coordinator (ECEC) and FSC to provide families with timely information and referrals appropriate to their needs.
Monitors and documents attendance concerns.
Provide learning opportunities for dual-language in the home.
Documentation
Utilizes agency-adopted tools for ongoing assessment and documentation.
Ensures all federal, local, state and/or agency documentation is completed accurately.
Documents all family contacts and home visits.
Monitors and report child abuse.

Qualifications:
Educational requirements: Associate degree in early childhood education or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field that includes coursework equivalent to major. Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements.
Complete and maintain annual training hour requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Knowledgeable in computer skills, word processing, and e-mail.
Must have a valid license.
Must be able to obtain CPR & First Aid certification within 30 of employment.

Under general supervision, the Senior HR Training Specialist provides advance support in areas of Human Resources Training and Organizational Development (OD); is a strategic partner within the University; is instrumental in identifying training needs, and can develop, design, coordinate, facilitate, and monitor a wide range of training initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Designs, develops, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors all training activities for the HR Training Academy Supervisory Training Series (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels.).
Establishes and publishes weekly, monthly, and annual supervisory training schedules and calendars. Promotes training sessions within the University to increase program attendance and engagement. Maintains training records, and attendance for supervisors. Designs, develops, and maintains the Training and Development Webpage.
Generates monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and statistics on all HR Training Academy Supervisory Level initiatives.
Provides ongoing assessment of training needs and develops appropriate training plans and strategies. Assists in planning, goal setting, developing, and identifying programs to meet future Training and OD initiatives. Uses appropriate measurement and feedback tools such as Qualtrics, TrainTraq Learning Management System's (LMS) Reports, etc., to evaluate the effectiveness of existing and new Training and OD initiative.
Provides advanced support in all areas of the HR Department. Assists with Performance Evaluations (Training, Workday Process assistance, weekly, and monthly reports of incomplete evaluations).
Cultivates and maintains relationships with outside vendors and consultants to develop and schedule customized training experiences. Remains current on Training and Development trends by being an active member of Texas A&M System Training Coordinators Network, maintaining membership in professional organizations, attending conferences, and training workshops etc.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree.
Four years of related experience.

Knowledge of creating training using the ADDIE Model.
Basic knowledge of Organizational Development principles and practices.

Lake Somerville State Park Complex has superlative landscape and wildlife viewing opportunities and outdoor recreational opportunities within a two-hour drive from Austin and Houston.
Under the direction of the Lake Somerville Complex Superintendent, this position performs routine (journey-level) operations work in a state park. The Park Interpreter/Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for interpretation and educational programming and assists with organizing, planning and directing volunteer activities and special programs/events at the Lake Somerville State Park Complex including Birch Creek and Nails Creek State Parks. Researches, develops, and provides interpretive programs, exhibits, outreach programs and tours based on the Interpretive Master Plan of the complex and its mission. Assists with recruiting, training, and oversight of volunteer program. Serves as social media manager and as liaison for park support group. Provides administrative support duties including promotion, marketing and purchasing. Assists with natural and cultural resource management which may include participating in prescribed fires. Under the direction of the Complex Superintendent, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) park/historic site management work. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operations, management, leadership, preservation, interpretation, maintenance and safety of Lake Somerville State Park, Birch Creek Unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: cultural and natural resource management, revenue management, budget planning, preparation and monitoring, human resources management, security and safety programs, management of maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds and equipment, public relations, marketing and promotion, interpretation and education, special events, community outreach, volunteer development, and coordination of partnerships. Responds to on-call and emergency situations. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
NOTE: Salary range is limited to commissioned officers in the park management track prior to 9/1/2020. State Park Law Enforcement career ladder eligibility requirements must be met to advance from the base rate-of-pay.
