In 1972, Brentwood Academy purchased complete library furnishings and 6,900 volumes of reference material, literature, and other resource media.
In 1972, Brentwood College became the first all-boys boarding school in Canada to become co-educational, enrolling twenty brave Grade 12 female students for the fall session.
Brentwood School opened in fall 1972 as a college preparatory day school serving Grades 6-10.
To aid in long range planning, Walter Knestrick spearheaded the formation of an endowment program in 1981.
In the fall of 1983, a capital campaign under the direction of Bill Sheriff and Ambassador Joe M. Rodgers raised over one million dollars to construct a new library, computer room, administrative offices, middle school gymnasium and wrestling room.
In 1988 the Upper School Building was expanded to house the art department, a darkroom, a computer lab, and two additional classrooms.
The New Library/Science/Performing Arts Complex opened in March 1989.
In 1993 the Board of Directors voted to change the corporate name of the school from Washington County Independent Schools, Inc. to Brentwood School, Inc.
That acquisition was finalized in 1994 and the property became the new home of our Lower School, grades K-6.
With the opening of the Lower Division in fall 1995, the school became Grades K-6 on the West Campus and Grades 7-12 on the East Campus.
In 1996 the old typing room was renovated to house an expanded computer lab, and the original computer lab became a classroom.
In 1998, a long range plan was established for additional campus space and facilities.
In July, 1999, nineteen acres to the north of the campus were purchased from longtime neighbor, Mrs.
A capital campaign under the leadership of Richard Wright and Roland and Sarah Lundy was begun in 1999.
In 2001 the 22 acre (89,000 m²) Brentwood School Athletics Complex opened on the East Campus.
In 2003, the campus Master Plan was updated, providing guidance to future expansion as needs demand and resources allow.
In 2005, ground was broken on a new Fine Arts Academic and Rehearsal Center and the first floor of a new Athletic Fitness Center, a result of a capital campaign led by the trustee board and campaign chairs Regg Swanson and Jane Smith.
In 2008, the school graduated its largest class to date—123 students.
In 2010, Brentwood Academy published a commemorative book which chronicles the first 40 years in the life of the school.
In the summer of 2012, a renovation campaign helped raise funds for important upgrades to our science labs, upper school gym, theatre and dining hall.
In the fall of 2019, Brentwood School opened a brand new Middle School building allowing its 6th Grade to join the Middle School from the Lower School, and increase enrollment size for each grade on both campuses.
