The Patient Account Representative position is responsible for taking incoming and making outgoing calls to patients and insurance companies to resolve account balances. The Lead Histotechnologist motivates, coordinates, and supports staff to ensure quality results are reported in a timely manner. Incumbents operate under general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and will recommend adjustments to staffing, policies, and procedures. The Lead Technologist will assume those duties as delegated by the Laboratory Administrator to maintain regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA, and AHCA. Competency evaluations shall be performed by the Laboratory Manager. POSITION SUMMARY The Medical Assistant (MA) provides high quality, care for culturally diverse populations with acute and/or chronic illness in the Brevard Health Alliance outpatient care setting. They must be able to promote a safe environment for all patients including those with altered sensorium due to medication or an acute or chronic illness. MAs are responsible for collecting data, document using appropriate forms and electronic health records, follow policies, protocols and guidelines, adhere to policies and evaluate resources for each shift. Within their scope of practice, the MA performs routine administrative and clinical duties to assist the nurse, MD/DO/APRN/ or PA as part of the medical home healthcare team. The MA is accountable to the Manager of the assigned area with scope of practice and clinical competence oversight by the Director of Clinical Operations or designee. Performs nonstandard and specialized practical nursing activities according to scope of practice. • Performs competent care for patients using the Medical Home model, specific duties include but are not limited to: • Gather information from non-scheduled patients such as a chief complaint to document and communicate information to the Nurse and/or healthcare team. • Check patients in for appointments and gather vital signs. • Orders labs and diagnostic tests appropriate for the scope of practice following policy/protocol. • Answer desktop alters and messages within 24-48 hrs. Front Desk Receptionists are the first point of the administrative contact for patients in the office; performing a variety of office functions such as greeting, scheduling, and checking patients in and out for their appointments. Essential Functions * Adheres to the Riverchase Mission Statement, Credo, Service Goals, and Values providing exceptional customer service at all times. * Greets and welcomes patients as they arrive for their appointments. * Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by ensuring the collection of all necessary documentation for treatment and accurately collects and applies payments of services and products. * Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette; directs calls as necessary. * Facilitates patient flow by notifying the clinical staff of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff, checking patients in and out for their appointments. * Keeps office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs and monitoring office equipment. * Learns new products and maintains an accurate inventory of all items. * Ensures a positive experience for each patient through excellent customer service practices. * Verifies patient health benefits with approved health care companies. * Sends out and receives medical records and referrals for patient care. * Keeps reception area clean and organized. * Works in a team environment to accomplish common tasks in a collegial manner. Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in patients' status. * Provide therapy and consultation to patients in individual and group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance abuse, mental and physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse. * Collaborate with Providers, Case Managers and the Nursing team to plan and coordinate treatment, drawing on social work experience and patient needs. * Educate patients and community members about mental and physical illness, abuse, medication, and available community resources. * Maintain accurate records of treatment in the patient Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and follow up with patients in order to evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatments. * Perform other related duties as assigned.
