What You'll Do As a Principal Software Engineer at EWN, you will: • Lead the design, development, and evolution of shared SaaS platform capabilities, frameworks, libraries, and standards • Solve complex, cross-cutting technical challenges that span multiple teams and systems • Write high-quality, production-ready code and tests where it creates the greatest leverage, especially for platform-level capabilities such as public APIs, integrations, and shared services • Provide hands-on technical leadership through architectural guidance, design reviews, and close collaboration with product and sprint teams • Establish and model high standards for software quality, performance, scalability, reliability, testing, and operational readiness • Design systems that meet high throughput and performance requirements while ensuring observability and operational excellence • Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, helping cultivate a strong, sustainable technical culture • Enable teams after platform delivery through training, documentation, best practices, and ongoing technical guidance • Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to define and evolve architectural principles and engineering standards • Identify friction in the development lifecycle and lead initiatives to improve developer experience, tooling, workflows, and CI/CD pipelines • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, leaders, and non-technical stakeholders What You'll Bring Required Skills & Experience • At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production systems with significant performance, scalability, or reliability requirements • Deep understanding of modern software architecture, including distributed systems and service-oriented designs • Strong software design, debugging, testing, and documentation skills • Experience with test-driven development • Ability to reason about tradeoffs involving performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability • Proven ability to operate effectively under ambiguity and make sound technical decisions • Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and influencing other engineers • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly Preferred Skills & Experience • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) • Experience working on platform or infrastructure teams • Experience designing and supporting public APIs or system-to-system integrations • Experience improving developer tooling, workflows, or internal platforms • Experience working within a SaaS business model • Experience in the oil, gas, or energy industry Why Join Us?
