Responsible for the timely processing of duties and/or activities related to the accurate processing and handling of patient accounts. Ensures that all patient account information, charges, billings, and follow-up activities are accurate, complete, and timely.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
Reviews patient account information for completeness and accuracy.
Makes necessary changes/updates to patient account information to ensure timely payment on accounts. Retrieves status information from government and third party payers regarding outstanding professional claims.
Coordinates with governmental agencies, third-party payers, and internal auditors to ensure maximum reimbursement for hospital services.
Acts as a liaison between the hospital and third party payers in resolving billing and reimbursement issues.
Provides follow-up on claim edits, rejections, denials, and outstanding professional claims in a timely manner.
Maintains patient records and ensures confidentiality of sensitive information.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service - Provides assistance and services to patients, families, staff and external agencies in the accurate completion of patient registration, admission and scheduling. Investigates and resolves customer requests, questions or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures. Contacts outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problems.
Revenue Cycle Support - Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that the necessary data, information and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system. Talks to management to explain system errors or to recommend changes to the system.
Compliance - Completes and authenticates all documents and questionnaires that ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH).
Safety - Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient. identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators.
HIPAA/Confidentiality - Maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage. Access only information and records necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

A caregiver in this position works two shifts per month, ranging from 8:00AM - 6:00PM. This position requires floating between the Outpatient Centers in New Philadelphia and Carrollton, as needed.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Provide a comprehensive, proactive and "Patients First" experience for patients and visitors.
* Investigate, triage and resolve patient issues using the established HEART model.
* Create a welcome and professional environment, interact with patients and ensure stellar patient experiences.
* Perform patient registration, visit preparation, telephone triage, insurance verification, co-pay collection, patient and record tracking, scheduling, arrival and/or departure desk activities and screening and scheduling of interpreter services.
* Enter and maintain confidential patient information.
* Recruit, enroll and educate patients on MyChart and Appointment Pass.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance processing or customer service OR an Associate's Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Knowledge of medical terminology

Physical Requirements:
* Dexterity sufficient to operate a PC and other office equipment.
* Requires extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
* Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
* Must be able to navigate various locations and function in a fast-paced, hectic environment.
* Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $18.50
Maximum hourly: $18.50
