How you'll contribute:
As an Internal Sales Associate, you'll be responsible for supporting incoming calls from financial advisors around the nation regarding our annuity and life solutions, that can help clients protect what they have earned and ensure that it lasts. The purpose of each call will be to create a positive advisor experience that will enhance our relationships and further develop sales opportunities for our distribution teams.
In this role, you'll get to:
Continuously develop knowledge of Brighthouse Financial Annuity & Life product lines, systems, and processes.
Answer and document inbound calls, providing sales support and positioning to financial advisors for our solutions.
Help support submission of business by understanding licensing, training, firm, state, and application requirements.
Identify advisor need on issues, research, and resolve requests. Involve other distribution business partners if needed to resolve issues and take accountability until complete.
Provide product illustrations, as well as utilize the marketing resources available to complement further advisor engagement.
Identify sales opportunities on incoming calls and refer to Internal Wholesaler.
Collaborate with manager and identify areas of development and personal growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.

In this role, you'll get to:

* Serve as a thought leader and actively participate in trade associations, such as the American Council of Life Insurers
* Collaborate with Government Relations to support advocacy for tax matters of importance to the Company.
* Monitor new and proposed tax law changes, evaluate and communicate impacts to business partners.
* Advise the Finance leadership, Legal, and other business partners on tax reporting issues for the Company's financial activities.
* Provide leadership of interim and annual GAAP (ASC740) and STAT (SSAP101) provision processes, including management of effective tax rate, review of valuation allowance analyses, and other related activities
* Supervise indirect tax accounting.
* Oversee preparation and filing of all Federal and state tax returns, including but not limited to, income tax, premium, retaliatory and municipal tax, sales and use tax, product withholding tax, and personal property tax.
* Guide tax audit activity, including review of audit responses and collaboration with outside counsel or other advisors.
* Maintain strong working relationship with Company's external auditors, outside counsel, and other advisors.
* Ensure strong control environment in compliance with SOX and MAR requirements.
* Coach and develop a team of tax professionals, at all levels.
We're looking for people who have:
* Minimum 12 - 15 years of tax reporting and compliance experience in the life insurance industry or in a tax practice of a major accounting firm working with life insurance companies; CPA required
* Experience dealing with federal, state and local tax regulators
* Technical expertise and experience in life insurance tax and tax accounting (ASC 740, SSAP 101), consolidated tax return regulations, and Life/Non-Life group issues
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Strong accounting and analytical skills
* Ability to manage issues and projects across Tax and business partners
* Ability to clearly communicate complex financial and process-related information to management
* Ability to manage multiple complex tasks towards completion at the same time

A Brief Overview

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment.
