Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pediatric Nurse to join our compassionate team. In this vital full-time role, you will provide specialized nursing care and heartfelt support to a young pediatric client in Brookpark. This position offers consistent daytime hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. If you are a nurturing, skilled pediatric nurse who is committed to making a meaningful difference in a child's daily life, we would love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate, developmentally appropriate pediatric nursing care to a child with blindness, muscle spasticity, and seizure activity. Provide consistent coverage during the primary schedule of 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexibility for some weekend shifts based on family needs. Monitor the child's health status, including observing and documenting changes in behavior, mobility, neurological responses, and comfort levels. Demonstrate exceptional patience, love, and compassion while building trust and emotional security with the child and family. Administer prescribed medications, seizure-related interventions, and therapeutic treatments with precision and care. Support safe mobility, positioning, and daily comfort measures to reduce muscle strain and promote developmental progress. Respond promptly and confidently to seizure episodes using appropriate pediatric nursing protocols. Maintain a calm, nurturing environment that supports sensory limitations and enhances the child's emotional well-being. Assist with daily routines, including feeding, hygiene, comfort care, and age-appropriate stimulation. Keep accurate and timely documentation of care, treatments, observations, and family communication. Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision Certified CPR/BLS and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray Licensed driver with reliable and insured automobile (proof of insurance required) Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in clinical oversight, staff development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant care for all clients. I. Client Care & Clinical Management Conduct Client Assessments: Perform comprehensive initial, ongoing, and as-needed client assessments to accurately determine care needs and scope of service. Develop and Manage the Plan of Care (POC): Initiate, develop, and oversee the individualized Plan of Care (POC) for each client. Make necessary ongoing revisions to the POC based on changes in the client's condition or upon review of caregiver documentation. Ensure the client and family fully understand the home POC and their responsibilities. Supervisory Visits & Quality Assurance: Conduct in-home supervisory visits in accordance with agency guidelines and/or state licensure regulations. Participate actively in quality assurance reviews and evaluations of all services provided to clients. Maintain Clinical Compliance: Maintain comprehensive compliance with all state and federal regulations affecting home care and demonstrate knowledge of current health and home care best practices. Client Communication & Advocacy: Respond to and resolve client complaints or concerns, and communicate and refer appropriate clinical or administrative matters to the direct supervisor for guidance. II. Caregiver Training & Oversight Orientation and Skills Training: Conduct the orientation and skills training for newly hired caregivers to ensure competence and adherence to agency standards. Instruction and Education: Instruct and orient caregivers on client-specific Plan of Care needs and general skills following agency guidelines and regulatory standards. Chart Management and Trend Analysis: Manage and track the charting done by caregivers to ensure Client Coordinators are immediately aware of any potential concerns or changes in client condition. Assist Client Coordinators in any necessary Plan of Care updates based upon trends observed in caregiver charts, notes, or supervisory visit findings. Train caregivers on any client-specific skills required based on needs identified in charts, notes, or physician orders. Performance & Recognition: Recognize and reward good job performance and promote caregiver recognition initiatives. III. Operational Support & Professionalism Team Support: Act as a fill-in caregiver for client shifts when a suitable replacement cannot be found to ensure continuity of care. Relationship Management: Maintain positive and professional relationships with all clients, family members, referral sources, and co-workers. Confidentiality: Maintain absolute confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI) and proprietary information pertaining to employees, clients, and client family members. Attendance: Maintain regular, predictable attendance. Related Duties: Perform related clinical and administrative duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the management team. REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Education: Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensure: Currently registered/licensed as a Registered Nurse with the Ohio Board of Nursing (active and in good standing). Experience: Prefer at least three years of nursing experience; private duty home care experience is strongly preferred.
