Mustapha Kebbeh's LinkedIn

As Chief Information Security Officer for a global enterprise, I head vision and strategy for all IT cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, and IT enterprise architecture impacting 75,000 employees around the world. My goal is to protect information data and technologies from actual and potential threats, both internal and external to the organization.

My strength involves continually fortifying corporate security through standardization, training, and innovative technology to empower employees on all levels. Through my efforts, I have helped Brinks, IBM, Vodaphone, and CompuCom safeguard their IT infrastructure and mitigate risk from malicious hackers, human error, and general security gaps.

Key factors include bringing in the right talent, building a culture of security-minded personnel, and getting everyone involved. It’s also critical to think about the business from more than a security viewpoint by selecting tools and technology to drive revenue and business growth as well as system protection. To guard against cybersecurity threats and vulnerability, I leverage expertise in security frameworks such as PCI, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, and data privacy.

Fellow executives, direct reports, and partners appreciate my energy level, work ethic, and transparency. While I direct 110 people through mentoring and leadership development, I am also open to their ideas and solutions. I also enjoy strategizing with clients, evaluating risk, and transforming companies to improve system integrity and security.

Pros of working at Brink's

I worked for Brinks for 5 years and there weren't really any pros of working there. I stayed because I enjoy driving.

Cons of working at Brink's

Brinks is filled with cons. Management ignores you unless they claim you did something wrong. The trucks have cameras that are supposed to be used for protection for the messenger and vehicle. But management uses them to watch the messenger mostly as he's driving. The routes are so disorganized with stops on your route you have to go out of your way to get to them. And management doesn't care. You rarely work an 8 hour day. I worked up to 15 hours a day sometimes. The trucks are so poorly maintained that they breakdown weekly.

Brink's benefits

The only real benefit for me was never having to work weekends.

What do you like best about Brink's's CEO and the leadership team?

The ceo is only concerned with making money for the shareholders. And proof of this is the elimination of the jobs of guards and drivers. So there is only one person in each truck now. Nobody cares for the safety of the people who actually do the work.

How would you improve Brink's's culture?

The people that are in the positions of branch managers have no managerial skills. They should all have to be trained. Management needs to listen to what the employees are saying and not ignore them as they do now.

How did you prepare for the Brink's interview?

I didn't need to prepare. I'm extremely confident in my abilities and skills. That's why I was hired after one short interview.

How does your compensation at Brink's compare to the industry average?

When I started it was on the low end. But by the time I was laid off it had increased significantly.

What's the diversity at Brink's like?

Nonexistent.

What brings you the most joy at Brink's?

Being allowed to do my job without being harassed and rushed.
