Bristol Industries company history timeline

1977

Royal Portbury Dock was built in 1977.

1978

Bristol Industrial Museum opened in 1978.

1979

In 1979, Bristol helped the fledgling ESPN, which today is the world’s largest sports broadcasting cable channel with more than 3,500 employees.

1982

Watershed Media Centre opened in 1982.

1984

In 1984, a local partnership, Vermont Industrial Parks, bought the buildings and the land for $230,000.

1991

The Galleries was built in 1991.

2000

The Bristol Centre opened in 2000.

2001

In 2001, Autumn Harp was sold to a Shelburne businessman, Dave Logan, who further grew the company to over 200 employees, the largest single employer in the long history of Bristol manufacturing.

2002

The British Empire and Commonwealth Museum opened in 2002.

2009

Logan and his brother, John, continued to operate the company at the site, still leasing it from Vermont Industrial Parks, until the summer of 2009, when they outgrew the campus and moved the company to a newly designed facility in Essex, Vermont.

2010

In December of 2010, the Bristol Works! LLC, partnership bought the 5.5-acre property with 55,000 sq. ft. of buildings from Vermont Industrial Parks for $1,000,000 and began to repurpose the site for a mixed use of light manufacturing, housing, health, wellness, and recreation.

2014

Bristol Industries joined the Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM) group of companies in 2014.
