Program Associate, Communications and Systems The Program Associate, Communications and Systems provides high-level support to the Sentinel Program and Sabeti Lab teams to advance strategic communications and operational effectiveness. This hybrid role focuses on developing clear, compelling written and visual materials for internal audiences, organizing and curating information for the Sentinel program, and helping implement tools and technologies that improve collaboration and efficiency across teams.
Reporting to the Sentinel Program Manager and working closely with the Sentinel Managing Director and Associate Director for Operations and Finance, the Program Associate supports a wide range of activities including executive communications, document and knowledge management, and process innovation. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and visual communicator with excellent organizational skills, discretion, and a demonstrated interest in applying new technologies to enhance team workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Communications and Knowledge Management
Prepare high-quality written and visual materials, including presentations, briefing
memos, agendas, and summaries, for internal leadership and stakeholder meetings.
Collaborate with the Director to synthesize scientific, operational, and programmatic content into clear, visually engaging slide decks and reports.
Support the organization and curation of Sentinel program materials, including reports publications, presentations, web series, and historical documents.
Redesign and maintain an organized digital repository of files and program records; establish standards for naming, version control, and metadata tagging.
Analyze and summarize existing materials to identify key insights and reusable content for future projects.
Manage document flow for leadership reviews, ensuring timely preparation, version tracking, and alignment with lab communication standards.
Exercise judgment and discretion in handling sensitive communications and confidential information.
Operational and Systems Improvement
Collaborate with administrative and operations staff to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and collaboration across teams.
Support implementation of AI and other digital tools (e.g. LLM-based productivity applications) to streamline internal workflows and enhance document management.
Pilot and test new platforms or tools to improve information sharing, meeting preparation, and task coordination.
Work with administrative leads to document workflows, develop templates, and establish simple standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring processes
Maintain awareness of best practices in knowledge management and applied AI to support continuous improvement in lab operations.
Contribute to change management and communication efforts as new systems and tools are adopted across teams.
Support project leads with meeting coordination, task tracking, and follow-up documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public health, biology, communications, or information science (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, operations, or research coordination within academic, research, or public health settings.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written and visual materials for scientific or organizational audiences.
Experience organizing large volumes of information or managing digital repositories is strongly preferred.
Experience designing and facilitating trainings and capacity-strengthening initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to encourage behavior change and sustained use of new processes across diverse teams.
Familiarity with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT or other LLMs) and an interest in their application to improve productivity and communication workflows.

In support of continually changing initiatives, the Clinical Laboratory Process Development Associate I is committed to carrying out innovative, high-throughput lab processes and supporting the highest quality research to understand the impacts of genetic regulation on human health and disease. In this role, you are responsible for processing samples through a high throughput clinical research laboratory and meeting production goals.
In this position, you will complete multi-step processes for cell expansion, banking, perturbations, screens and working to develop cellular models of disease and biological processes of interest to researchers. In addition to standard production processes, this position will require individuals to participate in continuous improvement solutions through appropriate change management procedures and troubleshooting processes as needed.
The individual may be involved with the designing and executing of development, process improvement, or troubleshooting projects under direct guidance from the supervisor in support of platform goals and may be required to complete related training in JMP, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methods. Job Responsibilities:
Maintain and optimize mammalian cell culture systems for screening experiments.
Apply functional genomics techniques, including epigenomics, single-cell, transcriptomics, and CRISPR-based assays in human cells and tissues
Follow standard operating procedures
Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the Laboratory Director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training, experience, and technical abilities.
Tests will require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal supervisor by the laboratory director or supervisor
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Correct the problems according to procedures or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant or Laboratory Director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Minimum requirements:

The Director of Viral Sequencing Optimization provides senior technical and operational leadership to translate emerging genomic sequencing protocols into efficient, scalable, and sustainable workflows. This position leads efforts to optimize performance, reduce cost, and ensure reproducibility across a range of research and diagnostic settings, including partnerships in low- and middle-income countries.
The Director works closely with scientific and operational leaders to integrate new technologies, automate laboratory processes, and strengthen implementation capacity across multiple sites. This role requires exceptional scientific judgment, a deep understanding of genomic workflows, and the ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Genomic Workflow Implementation and Optimization
Lead the adaptation and implementation of new sequencing protocols (e.g., SwiftSeq and similar platforms) into routine laboratory operations.
Evaluate and refine workflows to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining scientific rigor and data quality.
Partner with informatics and engineering teams to align upstream and downstream processes and ensure end-to-end workflow integrity.

Automation and Workflow Integration

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule.
