Infra Engineer, Observability Whisperer SF, NYC, or Remote (USA)
Hex 3.9
Remote broadcast engineer job
Hex is growing our team of builders on a mission to make everyone a data person. Our platform solves key pain points with today's data and analytics tooling, and empowers anyone to explore data using natural language, with or without code, on trusted context. Thousands of customers like Ramp , Figma , Stubhub , Anthropic, and Gamma love Hex for our beautiful UI, agentic superpowers, and boundless flexibility.
Hex has raised over $100M from leading investors like Sequoia, a16z, Snowflake and Amplify. With office hubs in San Francisco and New York, as well as remote team members throughout the US and UK, we're a high-agency team that ships fast and has fun doing it. Check out our Intro to Hex video and employee handbook to learn more about what it's like to work at Hex.
About the role
We build products people genuinely love. Our features are impactful, our business is growing, and … it's pretty great!
We also love Datadog too - but let's be honest: we have been operating on “ship it first, check the bill later”. And the bill has grown to the point we're actually looking for someone who can help us think through how to manage this in a more scalable way. We need a hero. A detective. Someone with a deep-seated love for logs, metrics, and most importantly, savings.
You are not just an Infra Engineer; you are an economic covert ops specialist. Your glorious mission is to make our Datadog spend dramatically and sustainably go down. We\'re talking down. The bill should look like it's been body-slammed by a professional wrestler.
You will be embedded within the Infrastructure team, and will have the autonomy to look across every service to streamline and purge that which needs streamlining and purging. As you rack up wins, you'll increasingly become the person we introduce at company meetings as, "The reason we could spend $$ on that nice company offsite.”
What you will do
Mitigation of myriad metrics: Hunt down and decommission all high-cardinality custom metrics that no one actually uses, replacing them with sane, aggregated alternatives, or build a system that insulates us from this risk area entirely.
Liberation from legions of logs: Audit the log ingestion for every service. You'll work with engineering teams to tune logging levels, apply intelligent sampling and exclusion filters at the source (i.e., the agent), and implement better categorization and archiving strategies.
Analysis of Performance Monitoring (APM): Analyze our APM and trace ingestion and ensure it's smartly used. You'll champion distributed tracing strategies that are both informative and economical.
Standardization: Use automation to enforce cost-saving policies across our entire fleet, ensuring developers can't accidentally check in a new, expensive monitoring configuration
Evangelization: Be the champion for cost-aware engineering. Create internal documentation, run "Datadog Dojo" workshops, and embed the mindset of "monitor what matters" across the entire engineering organization.
About you
3+ years as an Infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineer.
Expert-level, obsessive knowledge of Datadog's pricing model and platform architecture. You know how to read the usage report better than you know your own credit card statement.
Deep proficiency with AWS and Kubernetes.
Strong programming skills for infrastructure automation.
The courage to tell a founder or principal engineer that their favorite metric is financially irresponsible.
Bonus:
Experience with other monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb, Splunk) and a view on whether we should be using any of them to displace some Datadog functionality.
Experience implementing OpenTelemetry standards and agents for cost-effective vendor neutrality.
A proven track record of actually reducing cloud costs, not just talking about it.
Our stack
Our product is a web-based notebook and app authoring platform. Our frontend is built with Typescript and React, using a combination of Apollo GraphQL and Redux for managing application state and data. On the backend, we also use Typescript to power an Express/Apollo GraphQL server that interacts with Postgres, Redis, and Kubernetes to manage our database and Python kernels. Our backend is tightly integrated with our infrastructure and CI/CD, where we use a combination of Terraform, Helm, and AWS to deploy and maintain our stack.
In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.
The salary range for this role is: Variable, depends on how much $$ you save
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we're open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

Audio Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Field Engineer
Compqsoft 4.0
Broadcast engineer job in Alexandria, VA
An AV/VTC Field Engineer is a hands-on, mobile technical expert responsible for the physical installation, commissioning, and on-site servicing of integrated audio-visual and video conferencing systems. Unlike an office-based engineer or a programmer, the Field Engineer's primary workplace is at client sites. They are the critical link between the system design and the final, functioning product, ensuring that projects are deployed successfully in the real world.
Key Responsibilities
Field Engineer is highly action-oriented and revolves around on-site project execution and support.
On-Site Installation & Commissioning: Execute the physical installation of AV/VTC systems based on engineering drawings. This includes rack fabrication, mounting displays and cameras, installing microphones and speakers, and terminating cables (Ethernet, audio, video). Power up the system, load control code provided by AV programmers, and configure all devices (e.g., VTC codecs, DSPs, network switches). Systematically test every function of the room-from making a VTC call to ensuring every microphone works-to certify that the system is fully operational and meets the design specifications.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Serve as the primary on-site technician for diagnosing and resolving complex system failures. Troubleshoot issues that require a physical presence, such as faulty hardware, cabling problems, or network connectivity issues at the client location. Perform preventative maintenance and system health checks to ensure long-term reliability.
Client Interaction & Training: Act as the primary technical point of contact for the client during the installation and commissioning phase. Provide end-user training, walking clients through how to use their new system. Professionally manage client expectations and provide clear, concise updates on project status.
Documentation & Reporting: Meticulously document all aspects of the installation. This includes creating "red-line" drawings to reflect any on-site changes from the original design. Complete detailed field reports, commissioning checklists, and timesheets. Manage on-site inventory of parts and materials.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
A successful Field Engineer needs a strong mix of technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and personal discipline.
* Technical Installation Skills: Expertise in reading schematics, terminating connectors, and fabricating equipment racks. Must be proficient with hand and power tools.
* Commissioning Knowledge: Ability to configure a wide range of AV hardware, including control processors (Crestron, AMX), DSPs (Biamp, QSC), and VTC codecs (Cisco, Poly, Teams/Zoom Rooms hardware).
* Networking Proficiency: Strong understanding of IP networking is mandatory for VTC integration. Must be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues, configure IP settings on devices, and work with client IT departments.
* Certifications: An AVIXA CTS certification is standard. A CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist - Installation) is highly desirable and specifically tailored to this role. Manufacturer certifications are also extremely valuable.
* Autonomy & Professionalism: The ability to work independently, manage one's own schedule, and maintain a professional demeanor is crucial, as this is a client-facing role often performed without direct supervision.
* Physical Fitness: The role requires the ability to lift heavy equipment, work on ladders, and operate in construction environments.
Seniority/Experience: Mid-to-Senior (3-7+ years, requires high autonomy)

Frontend Engineer, Studio
Fabrica Creative 3.9
Remote broadcast engineer job
We're Creative Fabrica, a fast-scaling tech start-up from Amsterdam.
Our mission
Enable creativity by giving access to everything related to the creative process: inspiration, learning, creating, and sharing. The ‘Creative Inspiration Flywheel'
This creates a self-sustaining community that lives within the Creative Fabrica ecosystem.
About the platform
We launched in 2016 as a marketplace for fonts with a subscription service. In the last 8 years, we have been through tremendous growth, and we're just getting started!
We have scaled to 50 million+ monthly page views, 8 million+ registrations, over 22 million listed products, and 22000+ active designers.
Our focus is to create a platform for designers that enables them to offer exceptional high-quality content. We make their products searchable in unique ways. This allows our customers to speed up their workflow, allowing them to focus on what they love most: Creating.
About the team:
The App teams are focused on the Creative Fabrica user products and experiences. Our current primary project is on developing Studio, an easy to use, browser-based all-in-one design platform for crafters, designers, educators, print-on-demand, and business owners.
Studio is integrated into the Creative Fabrica platform and offers a vast collection of pre-made design templates. These templates enable users to create a wide range of designs, including fonts, ads, book covers, cards, coupons, social media designs, invitation cards, postcards, noposters, tickets, and much more.
It is also equipped with all the necessary intelligent tools designed to simplify the creative process, such as Background Remover, SVG File Converter, PNG Resizer, PNG to SVG converter, and many others.
It leverages all Creative Fabrica AI capabilities to provide AI-based asset generation, inpainting and image enhancements.
About the role:
Bridge Design & Engineering: We need a developer who speaks the language of designers. Your goal is to translate complex Figma concepts into pixel-perfect, interactive reality without losing the "soul" of the design.
Build the "Studio" Product: Studio is in its early stages. You will drive the development of our prompt-operated design tools and GenAI interfaces, ensuring they feel intuitive and magical to the user.
User-Centric Innovation: Unlike backend-heavy roles, this position exists to maximize user value. You will build new features that directly impact how users create, interacting with whiteboarding tools, background removers, and vectorization flows.
What you will do:
End-to-End Feature Ownership: You won't just pick up tickets; you will own features from the design review stage through to deployment. You are the technical partner to the Product Owner.
Custom UI Architecture: We do not use off-the-shelf libraries like Material UI. You will build bespoke, performant UI components from scratch using React and Tailwind to match our unique design identity.
GenAI & Creative Tooling: You will build the interfaces that control our AI models-think drag-and-drop zones, real-time canvas overlays, and "prompt-to-design" inputs.
Rapid Prototyping: You will frequently iterate on UI/UX experiments to test new product concepts quickly.
Performance: Ensuring that rich interactions (whiteboarding, image manipulation) remain 60fps and snappy for the user.
What you will need:
React & TypeScript Proficiency: proficiency in modern React patterns (Hooks, Context, State Management) and TypeScript.
"Design Engineer" Capability: Ability to build complex, custom UIs without relying on UI kits (MUI/Bootstrap). You know how to structure CSS/Tailwind for scale.
Product Mindset: You understand
how
the business works. You ask "why are we building this?" and offer solutions that balance user experience with technical feasibility.
Web Technologies: Strong grasp of the DOM, browser APIs, and modern CSS (Flexbox/Grid, Animations).
High Agency: You don't wait to be told what to do. You see a UX flaw, and you fix it.
Collaborative: You thrive in a high-bandwidth environment with Designers and Product Owners.
Adaptable: The product is early-stage; requirements change. You roll with the punches and keep shipping value.
Nice to have:
Canvas/WebGL Familiarity: While you don't need to be a linear algebra expert (we have Graphics Engineers for that), being comfortable working
around
a canvas element (PixiJS, Fabric.js) is a huge plus.
GenAI Experience: Experience building UIs for AI tools (prompts, diffing images, loaders).
Performance Optimization: Code splitting, lazy loading, and rendering optimization.
Additional points:
This is a remote position, you must be based in a country within -3/+3 hours of the Central European Timezone (CET).
You must have the right to live and work in the country you are based on.
Is this you?
Get in touch! We'd love to speak to you.
You can apply by clicking the "Apply now" button.
