Broadview Heights company history timeline

1807

A surveyor, Paine was commissioned by Colonel John Breck of Massachusetts, whose land (purchased in 1807 from the Connecticut Land Co.) included what are now known as Brecksville, Broadview Heights, and North Royalton.

1815

A school was erected in 1815 at the intersection of Broadview and Avery rds., just north of what is now Royalton Rd.

1940

The stately 1940 historical society museum, which originally served as housing for attendants from the Broadview Veterans Administration Hospital, provided an ideal setting for the collection.

1998

The Broadview Heights Spotlights, a non-profit corporation, was conceived and founded in June of 1998.

The theater produced its first show in December 1998.

2006

Besides the obvious growth and many more residential developments, around 2006 oil/gas drilling companies started appearing.

2012

On November 6, 2012, the residents and voters of Broadview Heights decided by a 3-1 margin (67% in favor) to pass the Community Bill of Rights and add it to our city charter.
