Under supervision of the environmental services manager, the environmental service associate maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the health care facility. Assignments include cleaning of patient rooms, occupied and unoccupied, public areas, surgical areas as well as additional areas as assigned, stocking of supplies, and cleaning and maintaining equipment. Provides service to both internal and external customers and follow standard practices and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements. Receives working instructions, and work is frequently audited for accuracy and compliance with standards of quality. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Effective April 19, 2021 a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is no longer required for this position.

Areas to include but not limited to: Lab work areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, patient procedure rooms, stairwells, receiving dock, ambulatory storage, EVS closets, BIO storage rooms, recycling areas inside and outside, elevator landing, elevator's inside and out, elevator tracks.

Clinical Dietitian-Outpatient Diabetes Education and Nutrition Services Battle Creek
The dietitian serves as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team and assesses nutrition needs; develops and implements nutrition care plans; evaluates and reports the results appropriately; interprets, evaluates and utilizes pertinent and current research related to nutrition care; and coordinates activities according to department policies and procedures and the goals for the healthcare team. The dietitian is accountable for setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and promoting the achievement of patient outcomes. In addition to working with the healthcare team, the dietitian will interact with families. Utilizing a team-based approach, the dietitian provides highly proficient care, utilizing evidence-based guidelines, which is patient-centered and supportive of diversity and cultural factors. Responsible for patient, community, and staff education programs (individual or group) as needed and is an active participant in improving the health and well-being of our community. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
* Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or verification statement from an ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accredited program.
* Master's degree in science, human nutrition, public health, or a health-related field if becoming a registered dietitian in or after 2024
* Completion of an ACEND accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic Internship Program, Individual Supervised Practice Pathway, Coordinated program, Future Graduates Program, and International Dietitian Education Program).
* Additional education/experience may be required depending on specific department.
* Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required within 1 year of hire.
* Additional certification or progress toward certification completion may be required dependent on an individual's specific position.
* Demonstrate a high degree of competency with computers, including the ability to use an Electronic Medical Record (training will be provided).

* Utilizes nutrition screening criteria and reviews medical records of individual patients to identify patients with increased nutritional risk including in-patients on assigned units, patients with scheduled visits in assigned clinics, and patients scheduled for out-patient nutrition counseling.
* Identifies on-going risk for nutritional problems through regular review of anthropometric, biochemical and laboratory data; documentation of feeding skills; records of parenteral, enteral, and oral intake, diagnosis, or presence of chronic diseases or conditions associated with nutritional risk throughout patient's hospitalization and out-patient's course of treatment.
* Documents nutritional assessment by evaluation and interpretation of nutritional intake data; physical, anthropometric, biochemical and laboratory data; normal, immature and dysfunctional and behavioral aspects of feedings skills; and clinical signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiency, inadequacy, excess or toxicity.
* Establishes and documents the nutritional plan of care for individual patients by identifying nutritional problems and prescribing nutrition interventions that are age and disease specific, and incorporating these into the patients' overall plans of care.
* Reviews medical record and observes patient for response to nutritional plan of care and for changes that indicate unresolved or presence of new nutrition problem(s) and adjusts nutritional aspects of the patient's plan of care accordingly.
* Maintains knowledge of dietary guidelines and nutritional standards of care in health and disease and applies these guidelines to patient care and patient education.
* Assesses patient/family teaching needs and develops and documents a teaching plan with patient focused outcomes identified.
* Participates in developing and documenting a plan for discharge. Maintains knowledge of progression toward discharge and updates nutrition plan as necessary.
* Documents plan for follow up with qualifying and/or quantifying statement (identifies what, when and where follow-up, if any, will occur).
* Provides phone follow-up when indicated and assists in the continuity of care with primary care providers and dietitians providing follow-up care.
* Reviews medical records of individual patients to collect and analyze nutrition related data for Process Improvement and/or Compliance.

Under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and according to policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the department and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in filling prescriptions and preparing IV admixtures by interpreting, transcribing, and preparing medication(s) for dispensing. The Pharmacy Technician III is a role that builds upon the skills and competencies of the Pharmacy Technician I and Pharmacy Technician II as part of a professional career pathway. Fills orders with appropriate medications for review and approval by a Registered Pharmacist. Performs a variety of related technical, clerical and supply duties. The duties may vary somewhat depending on location of work (i.e. outpatient retail pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, etc) or shift assignment. The technician will be responsible for competency in the requirement of Pharmacy Technician II as well as those outlined below in the Additional Job Description.

Emergency Department Tech - Bronson Battle Creek ED - PRN
Under the supervision of a Registered Staff Nurse, and in accordance with defined policies and procedures for the unit, the Emergency Department technician (EDT) provides technical patient care to a pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Perform phlebotomy on both adults and children. Perform point of care testing such as urine pregnancy testing or blood glucose testing. Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs). Patient transportation to inpatient units, all diagnostic areas within the hospital. Responds to all Air Care flights as transporter assist to deliver patients to end destination. Performs decontamination procedures for contaminated patients. Assists with orthopedic injuries, applying plaster splints etc. Department maintenance activities (stocking patient rooms, moving equipment, ordering and procuring supplies, etc.). * Monitors cardiac rhythms, sets alarm parameters as directed by nurse or physician, performs arrhythmia analysis.
* Documents cardiac rhythm strips, rhythm changes and communicates with nurses (e.g. parameter changes).
* Communicates with nursing staff regarding changings in patient telemetry status.
* Initiates, discontinues, and completes troubleshooting of telemetry patients.
* Performs 12 lead EKGs in 5 min or less of patient arrival for Chest pain protocol patients.
* Monitors battery life on equipment and informs staff if batteries need changing.
* Monitors equipment return from transporting patients to in patient area assuring telemetry boxes are returned to supply drawer.
* Performs phlebotomy accurately on pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
* Transports patients to other areas of hospital and diagnostic areas - may also transport monitored patients if other criteria are met for technician transfer (see ED policy re: nurse required transfer).
* Responds to Air Care helicopter pad for all arrivals to ensure safe transport of patient to unit.
* Performs decontamination procedures for contaminated patients arriving to the Emergency Department.
* Responsible for disaster training specific to patient surge and decontamination procedures.
* Assists with back boarding, splinting, dressing, crutches, and other orthopedic procedures.
* Performs point of care testing (urine pregnancy testing, blood glucose).
* Documents all activities in EPIC.
* Attends ED technician skill fair once per year for mandatory sign off of procedures and equipment usage.
* Sets up room for eye exam, pelvic exams, lacerations, spinal taps, nose bleeds, etc.
* Notifies Registered Nurse of any abnormal findings specific to vital signs or procedural set ups.
* Provides information, direction, and assistance as appropriate to persons entering the unit.
* Communicates with the RN regarding patient status, interventions completed, data collected and pertinent input to facilitate care planning.
* Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.
* Ensures that all patients are set up, undressed, and prepped for ED physician to examine.
* Ensures that stocking of all critical supplies and equipment is done at the beginning and during shift.
* Performs bedside report hand off to on coming Emergency Department Technician.
* Ensures report is received from registered nurse team member every shift.
* Accompanies patients for diagnostic tests and discharge and/or assists patients to walk.
* Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
* Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
* Takes and records demographic information, height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food/fluid intake/output, and calorie counts, as directed.
* Monitors patient status and documents specific vital sign information.
* Utilizes computer systems to acquire needed supplies and to enter patient data, as defined by role.
* Provides skilled technical care according to unit-specific and generic structure standards, protocols and procedures, prescribed medical interventions, and nursing guidelines.
* Maintains a clean and orderly environment, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times.
* Accurately documents all care given.
* Assumes responsibility for own growth and development; attends 50% staff meetings.
BRONSON SOUTH HAVEN:
* Assists the RN in gathering patient data.

* Effective July 1, 2017 all new hire ED Techs must be certified by the State of Michigan and maintain a current CNA certification, or an active nursing student that has completed the first year of a nursing program. The nursing student must stay actively enrolled.
* Preferred completion of an accredited EMT program or RMA/CMA certification will be considered in lieu of qualifications above.
* 6-12 months previous experience required.
* One year EMS or hospital based experience preferred. Military corpsmen, nursing students with good records and those with a minimum of 1 year experience in a substantially similar position will be considered individually in lieu of EMT requirement.
* BLS certification required by end of core orientation period.
* Maintains BLS certification
* Successful completion of the organization, unit, and job specific competencies within a reasonable orientation period.
* Initiates, discontinues, and completes troubleshooting of telemetry patients.
* Performs 12 lead EKGs in 5 min or less of patient arrival for chest pain protocol patients.
* Monitors battery life on equipment and informs staff if batteries need changing.
* Monitors equipment return from transporting patients to in patient area assuring telemetry boxes are returned to supply drawer.
* Performs phlebotomy accurately on pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
* Transports patients to other areas of hospital and diagnostic area.
* Responds to Air Care helicopter pad for all transfers to ensure safe transport of patient.
* Performs decontamination procedures for contaminated patients arriving to the ED.
* Responsible for disaster training specific to patient surge and decontamination procedures.
* Assists with back boarding, splinting, dressing, crutches, and other ortho procedures.
* Performs point of care testing.
* Documents all activities in EPIC.
* Attends ED Tech skill fair once per year for mandatory sign off of procedures and equipment usage.
* Sets up room for eye exam, pelvic exams, lacerations, spinal taps, nose bleeds, etc.
* Notifies RN of any abnormal findings specific to vital signs or procedural set ups.
* Provides information, direction, and assistance as appropriate to persons entering the unit.
* Communicates with RN regarding patient status, interventions completed, data collected and pertinent input to facilitate care planning.
* Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patient needs.
* Ensures that all patients are set up, undressed, and prepped for ED physician to examine.
* Ensures that stocking of all critical supplies and equipment is done at the beginning and during shift.
* Performs bedside report hand off to oncoming ED Tech
* Ensures report is received from RN team member every shift.
* Accompanies patients for diagnostic tests and discharge and/or assists patients to walk.
* Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
* Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
* Takes and records demographic information, height, weight, temp, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food/fluid intake/output, and calorie counts as directed.
* Monitors patient status and documents specific vital sign information.
* Utilizes computer systems to acquire needed supplies and to enter patient data, as defined by role.
* Provides skilled technical care according to unit specific and generic structure standards, protocols and procedures, prescribed medical interventions, and nursing guidelines.
* Maintains a clean and orderly environment, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times.
* Accurately documents all care given.
* Assumes responsibility for own growth and development; attends 50% of staff meetings.
For Bronson Lakeview Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital:
The ED Tech is responsible for completing the Word day CBL -"Swing beds". This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The ED Tech will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient.
