Help Nourish Young Minds at Brooklyn Center Elementary. We're seeking a compassionate, skilled and caring District Assistant Cook to join our Nutrition Services team. Your Role Will Include:
Preparing, cooking, and serving menu items according to recipes and portion standards.
Setting up à la carte items and serving as cashier, including counting and recording monies received.
Assisting with breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparation; prepping lunch items; stocking salad bar, deli counter, beverage machines, and condiment stations.
Preparing and serving made-to-order sandwiches.
Operating foodservice equipment: dishwashers, mixers, slicers, choppers, steamers, deep fryers, ovens, and other mechanical equipment.
Creating a welcoming, supportive, culturally responsive environment for students and staff.
Cleaning kitchen and equipment; washing and storing dishes and utensils; completing laundry and general cleaning tasks.
Stocking and rotating food supplies; maintaining production records; counting leftovers; recording food and supply usage; assisting in estimating and ordering food needs
Replenishing food, beverages, and utensils during service and ensuring consistent portion sizes.
Reporting accidents or issues and upholding sanitary and food safety protocols.
Serving as Baker when needed and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of commercial kitchen cooking experience in a school setting.
Food Protection Manager Certification (must hold and maintain).
ServSafe Certification (district assistance available).
DHS background check.
Strong professional communication skills.
Preferred knowledge of: food quality and nutrition; USDA regulations; large-scale food storage; sanitation and safety practices; and equipment use and care.
Salary and Benefits:
$20.75-$23.18/hour, based on experience.

Job Summary: To provide guidance, enrichment and supervision to students in the Kid Connection program in the absence of the regular Instructor.
Responsibilities:
Understands and implements the Kid Connection program philosophy, policies and procedures, aligning with the Staff and Parent Handbooks, School Age Quality Standards, and CCAP guidelines
Will maintain a safe and healthy environment for self, other adults, and children following program health and safety procedures
Leads developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive activities using Minnesota School Age Core Competency guidelines and the National Afterschool Association Standards for Quality School-Age Care, as provided by regular Instructors
Assists in development of environment, curriculum and daily schedule that allows children to assume responsibility for successful peer interactions and choices and that meets the interest and developmental needs of each child. Adjusted it as needed in the absences of regular instructor
Promotes and maintains a positive attitude that supports the philosophy and mission of Kid Connection school age care and the strategic plans of Farmington Area Schools and Community Education.
Actively engages with adults, children, and staff members following the guidelines of Farmington Area Schools and Community Education
Promotes a positive image of the program by maintaining open and positive communication between Kid Connection staff, school staff, parents and community.
Teaches and demonstrates appropriate social skills to children through planned curriculum, role modeling, and positive reinforcement.
Responds to accept or decline Substitute Instructor shifts in a timely manner

Help Nourish Young Minds at Brooklyn Center Elementary. We're seeking a compassionate, skilled and caring District Assistant Cook to join our Nutrition Services team. Your Role Will Include:
Preparing, cooking, and serving menu items according to recipes and portion standards.
Setting up à la carte items and serving as cashier, including counting and recording monies received.
Assisting with breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparation; prepping lunch items; stocking salad bar, deli counter, beverage machines, and condiment stations.
Preparing and serving made-to-order sandwiches.
Operating foodservice equipment: dishwashers, mixers, slicers, choppers, steamers, deep fryers, ovens, and other mechanical equipment.
Creating a welcoming, supportive, culturally responsive environment for students and staff.
Cleaning kitchen and equipment; washing and storing dishes and utensils; completing laundry and general cleaning tasks.
Stocking and rotating food supplies; maintaining production records; counting leftovers; recording food and supply usage; assisting in estimating and ordering food needs
Replenishing food, beverages, and utensils during service and ensuring consistent portion sizes.
Reporting accidents or issues and upholding sanitary and food safety protocols.
Serving as Baker when needed and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of commercial kitchen cooking experience in a school setting.
Food Protection Manager Certification (must hold and maintain).
ServSafe Certification (district assistance available).
DHS background check.
Strong professional communication skills.
Preferred knowledge of: food quality and nutrition; USDA regulations; large-scale food storage; sanitation and safety practices; and equipment use and care.
Salary and Benefits:
$20.75-$23.18/hour, based on experience.
Comprehensive health and dental benefits; earned sick and safe time.
Locations & Shift Times:
Full-time position, Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
