The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, through Brown Health Medical Group, serves as the academic emergency medicine practice plan for the Brown University medical community.
The department provides emergency care and faculty staffing across four major hospitals in Rhode Island: Rhode Island Hospital, the region's only Level I Trauma Center; Hasbro Children's Hospital, the state's only children's specialty hospital; The Miriam Hospital, a leading community teaching hospital; and Newport Hospital, a community Magnet Hospital.

The Department of EM is looking for a full-time Emergency Medicine Pediatric Advanced Practice Trainee (EMPAT) at Hasbro Children's Hospital who is either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.

Our Mission: "To provide up-to-date, problem-based learning in the field of pediatric emergency medicine in a state-of-the-art facility, and to exceed the expected role of a pediatric emergency medicine advanced practice provider."
Program Overview:
A 12-month post-graduate training program directed by the Department of EM faculty and Pediatric APPs to support a comprehensive pediatric emergency medicine training program.
The program utilizes Hasbro Children's Hospital as the site for the orientation, training, and clinical rotations for newly graduated or non-emergency medicine trained APPs. Hasbro Children's Hospital is affiliated with The Alpert Medical School of Brown University & Brown University Health and is a teaching facility.

Performs the duties of a Sleep Lab Technician, scores sleep record of patient and prepares for physician interpretation.
Responsibilities
1. Performs duties of a Sleep lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings. Generates
computerized PSG report.
2. Interprets raw data: score polysomnogram for sleep stages using standardized
criteria, compute parameters to include sleep latency, sleep efficiency and
percentage of sleep stages, analyze apneas and arousals(muscle and spontaneous).
3. Determine heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages. Identify and quantify
abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration. Identifies normal/abnormal
patterns, artifacts and sleep/wake stages.
4. Assist with marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians.
5. Provides information to the medical staff with regard to test capabilities and requirements in order
to increase medical staff knowledge of polysomnographic testing. Provides in-service education to
sleep lab staff.
6. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specification
Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one years job-related experience or equivalent is required. Registered Polysomnography technologist certification is also required.
Physical Environment
The job is also typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.
