This will require the use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to generate 3D surface models for liners, decks, and small parts and strong competency with complex mechanism development. **At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.** Essential Functions: + Generate 3D surface models of decks, liners, and small parts to be utilized for 5-axis milling and tooling design + Complete engineering of assigned areas of a boat including fiberglass design, purchased parts and hardware development, mechanical system/hose routing, electrical layout, etc. + Design, engineer, and validate complex hinges and mechanisms for supplier fabrication using 3D models and 2D specification drawings + Provide accurate material and component specification for the sourcing of new and replacement components + Work with suppliers on the development of new systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of our boats systems + Ensure that new designs and components meet the cost, performance, and functional requirements of the new and enhancement boat programs + Review and approve engineering drawings and assembly prints for new boat programs + Participate in manufacturing integration activities to ensure successful launches of new products and technologies as well as continuous improvement activities + Support manufacturing and customer service on issues resolution + Ensure that designs have been fully validated and that they meet necessary system specifications and performance requirements + Utilize warranty data to identify issues related to mechanical systems for mitigation purposes + Provide technical evaluations and reports on issues for customer service and field problems + Ensure compliance with all necessary industry, domestic, and international government regulations + Ensure that all materials used in the manufacture of finished products have been tested and approved for quality and reliability + Perform final system design verification tests as needed + Ensure timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of project + Apply relevant voice of the customer and systems engineering input to designs + Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%) **Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.** Required Qualifications: + Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related discipline + Consideration will be given for candidates with significant work experience in lieu of education requirements + 3-5 years experience in marine product design preferred with knowledge of production processes + Computer Aided Design experience (Siemens NX preferred and/or experience with SolidWorks, Catia, Creo or Pro-E) + Excellent 3-D solid and free-surface modelling skills required + Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis + Proficient understanding of component and assembly interactions at the system level + Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is a plus + Commitment to quality and standards that are accepted by the industry + Must interface well with other employee's and departments throughout Brunswick as well as outside vendors, dealers and retail customers + Must be able to work extra hours required to assume timely completion of critical projects + Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications + Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities + Passion for the recreational marine industry Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role.
