Position title: Writing Center Tutor Location: Henrietta and Greece Campuses Job Summary: The Learning Center Tutor is part of the Academic Team that supports the success of the students at the Rochester Campuses. The prime responsibility for this position includes, but is not limited to, assisting students in maximizing their full academic potential. The tutors will work closely with faculty and administrative staff in assisting individual students to address issues of academic enhancement and performance. This includes providing a comfortable and non-threatening learning environment for students to pursue both formal and informal academic assistance. By creating an individual and/or group session for students and strengthening student confidence, the outcomes will result in having a positive impact on student academic success and the overall college experience. The tutor will have the responsibility of being the liaison between students, faculty, LCC coordinator, administration, and advisors to ensure successful student outcomes. Responsibility: • Responsible for working one on one and/or in a group environment. This includes: editing, formatting, assisting in mechanics, and APA referencing. • Facilitate communication between students, faculty, advisors, and administrators to achieve successful student outcomes. • Assist in maintaining records of tutoring and testing activities • Assist in preparing various reports as requested • Responsible for working with course syllabus, study guides, assessments, and other additional documents that assist in the student's academic success. • Assist with all documentation to ensure that all documentation has been properly completed for testing and tutoring of current and prospective students. • Comply with the Learning Center and Bryant & Stratton College policies and procedures • Attend Learning Center staff meetings, campus, market, and system-related meetings as required. • Assist in maintaining the Learning Center and Testing facility supplies and that the Learning Center appears professional at all times. • Participate in ongoing, professional tutor training • Assist in providing testing services and assessment for prospective and current students as needed • Provide assistance to prospective and current students with accessing and navigating current IT services, ie. Blackboard, Email accounts, Virtual Library. • Take additional responsibilities as assigned by the learning center coordinator or the appropriate Academic Dean SALARY: $18.00 per hour This position is not eligible for overtime. Maintain one Skills Assistance contact hour per week for every four instructional hours assigned to support the classroom's teaching and learning process by publishing a skills assistance schedule each term and actively promoting (and assigning when necessary) student attendance. Participate in professional development activities. Maintain a current knowledge of teaching discipline/field of study as evidenced by active participation in professional organizations, maintenance of current scholarly collection of resources (through virtual library), and engagement in active, on-going dialogue with peer faculty. Participate in program, campus/market, and system faculty development opportunities, including program-specific and campus-wide faculty meetings and in-services and market- and system-sponsored in-services.     Under the supervision of Finger Lakes Institute (FLI) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges staff and Finger Lakes Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (FL PRISM), AIS Technicians will assist in fieldwork, outreach, and education related to high-priority and emerging aquatic invasive species (AIS) including hydrilla, water chestnut, starry stonewort, fanwort, parrotfeather, and more. AIS Technicians will primarily participate in aquatic plant surveys around the Finger Lakes region. Techs will also work with managers to physically remove high-priority species such as water chestnut. Gain valuable experience, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to regional conservation efforts through seasonal work. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Support field work addressing terrestrial invasive species regionally · Participate in survey and management efforts for AIS · Collect and submit accurate field data following established protocols · Use motorboats, canoes, and kayaks to navigate waterways · Work under minimal and distant supervision; must make independent decisions based on experience and judgment · Drive and assist with campus-owned vehicles with trailers attached, including loading and unloading trailers and gear · Attend training conducted by the Finger Lakes Institute and Finger Lakes PRISM staff · Use watercraft, hip waders, and other tools to physically remove invasive plants from known locations in the Finger Lakes · Help lead or monitor work groups consisting of volunteers covering a wide geographic area OTHER INFORMATION: This is a seasonal (summer), non-benefits-eligible position. Bryant & Stratton plans to launch eSports in fall 2020 while offering scholarships to student athletes competing in eSports. The college will join the National Association of College ESports (NACE). All coaches are responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship. The head coach must focus not only on the development of the eSports program, but recognize and emphasize academic excellence in the classroom as well. The head coach, along with the athletic director, must operate within the budget to meet the team needs and enforce rules pertaining to the college, student conduct, and governing rules and regulations. Duties: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: The eSports coach serves in the Colleges Athletic Department, under the supervision of the Athletic Director. Recruiting student athletes, holding tryouts, scheduling and attending matches, knowledge of all NACE games and coaching the eSports team at Bryant & Stratton College. The Coach is also responsible for the instruction of players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, and technology of the sport. Candidate must have a minimum of five years' experience coaching. The coach is responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive athletic program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship. The coach must focus not only on excellence on the field, but recognize and emphasize academic excellence in the classroom as well. The coach, along with the Campus Director, must operate within the budget to meet the team needs and enforce rules pertaining to the College, student conduct, and governing rules and regulations. Bryant and Stratton College coaches are responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified students for their respective sport through a needs based consultative approach. The Athletic Coach is responsible for building relationships, the coordination of the enrollment process, and the management of their team. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities * Participates in on-campus activities to support retention and referral outcomes. * In coordination with the Campus Director, prepares the season schedule. * In coordination with the Campus Director, adheres to the budget guidelines, processes all necessary purchase orders and inventory, organizes and obtains all necessary equipment and supplies. * Conducts a student athlete conditioning program to promote the good health of the players. * Fields a competitive team that promotes good sportsmanship and represents the College in positive manner. * Conducts daily team practices to develop the skills of the student athletes and coach the team at games. * Ensures that admissions and marketing data is captured, recorded, inputted timely and accurately. * Ensures compliance with company policy and procedures, as well as state, federal and USCCA regulations. * 1st term retention of enrolled students at or above established goals and objectives. * Meets or exceeds yearly recruitment goal. * Attains a visit-to-enrollment metric at or above established goals and objectives. * Converts new student inquiries at or above established goals and objectives. * Manages all student inquiries and follow-up activities through CRM. * This is an exempt position with work hours that best suit the needs of the student. These hours include but are not limited to, student/player enrollment, the team practice schedule and scheduled games. These hours may include night, weekends and possible overnight travel. Qualifications * Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred. * Basketball coaching experience at the high school level or above * First aid/CPR certification is a plus. * Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills required. * Must be able to serve as a positive role model for young adults. * Familiarity with USCCA rules and regulations is a plus. Good driving record is preferred SALARY: $19,000 annual stipend This position is not eligible for overtime. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS * Provide 15 to 20 instructional contact hours per week in the Henrietta Nursing Program (classroom, lab and clinical) * Provide instruction with the focus on teaching and learning utilizing evidence based best practices for instruction to help assure students in each class successfully meet all course outcomes and classroom objectives. * Plan for and facilitate instruction consistent with the Community of Inquiry Framework, and the Seven Principles for Good Practice * Assure appropriate course-level rigor in class instruction and assessment methodologies consistent with the College's Rigor Standards Framework through the development, integration, and delivery of course content planning documents including but not limited to supplemental syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments. * Integrate and include instruction and assessment of each of the College's four lifelong learning competencies in each course taught. * Establish and maintain a classroom climate consistent with the College values, education promise, and personalized promise. * Model professional practice and standards while in the classroom, lab and clinical site(s). * Maintain one Skills Assistance contact hour per week for every four instructional hours assigned to support the classroom's teaching and learning process by publishing a skills assistance schedule each term and actively promoting (and assigning when necessary) student attendance. * Participate in professional development activities. * Maintain a current knowledge of teaching discipline/field of study as evidenced by active participation in professional organizations, maintenance of current scholarly collection of resources (through virtual library), and engagement in active, on-going dialogue with peer faculty. * Participate in program, campus/market, and system faculty development opportunities, including program-specific and campus-wide faculty meetings and in-services and market- and system-sponsored in-services. * Document professional development and learning. * Earn at least 10 continuing education hours annually * Fulfill administrative duties. * Meet requirements for creation, distribution, and retention and/or submission of beginning- and end-of-term paperwork. * Maintain Administrative hours as determined by the Program Director and Dean. * Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, Associate Guide). * Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to the Program Director and/or System-level curriculum team. * Provide input to Program Director regarding equipment and supplies needed for nursing classroom and lab. * Participate in preparation for, and ongoing maintenance of records required for national program accreditation. * Serve as resource/advisor/mentor for nursing students. * Attend required College functions including graduation and special activities. * Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goal attainment including, but not limited to, monitoring, adjusting (when needed), and assessing classroom and program retention/graduation, and meeting with program advisors on a regular basis to discuss student performance and academic concerns. * Participate in department committee meetings * Attend advisory committee meetings JOB REQUIREMENTS * Possess a Master's Degree in Nursing * Valid New York State Nursing License * Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification * Teaching experience preferred * Discipline-specific workplace experiences a plus * Possess and exhibit qualities of professionalism, integrity, self-esteem, self-motivation, and a strong desire to guide students to improve their career prospects. * Expected to maintain a contemporary skill set in support of active learning and authentic assessment evaluation methodology. * Exceptional organization and communication skills are required.
