Shortly after the turn of the century, in 1906, Siemens launches its first vacuum cleaner on the market when it introduces the so-called dedusting pump.
In 1933, Bosch introduces the first electric refrigerator.
Key developments in appliances occurred in the immediate aftermath of World War II. In 1949 one of the Siemens predecessors opened a factory in Giengen, West Germany, for the production of refrigerators and freezers and another in Traunreut, West Germany, for cooking appliances and water heaters.
In 1951, Constructa introduces the first fully automatic washing machine to the market.
In 1952, Bosch launches its first electrically operated universal food processor, the Neuzeit I.
By 1955, its successor model, the Constructa Deluxe 100, already has an 80 percent market share – and this in competition with 30 other suppliers.

The company later moved into production of gas- and electric-powered appliances, introduced Europe's first microwave oven in 1957, and invented induction cooking one year later.
The first entry in the Guinness Book of Records was in 1965, for squeezing 21 people into a VW Beetle.

The parent companies Bosch and Siemens began to take steps in 1972 to make BSHG an independent company.
The company acquired a stake in Pitsos A.E. of Athens, Greece, in 1976.
Charming and cumbersome: in 1977, the “Bosch Home Appliance Express” traveled for four months through Germany, Belgium and Austria.
The front loaders SIWAMAT V472 with 800 rpm and the SIWAMAT 484 with 1000 rpm appear in 1979.
In 1981, the Meisterkoch universal stove is launched.
In 1982 BSH acquired the high-end Neff brand from AEG for about DEM 80 million.
Taking over as president and CEO was Kurt-Ludwig Gutberlet, who had worked his way up to executive vice-president after joining the company in 1983 as a strategic planning associate.
The 1984 Domotechnica trade fair had washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators that could deliver short sentences, like baby dolls and talking teddy bears.
In 1985 BSH introduced the Aqua-Stop system into its dishwashers and washing machines.
By 1985, BSH had seen its revenue grow to DEM 3.57 billion and its workforce to 15,400.

AquaStop has been a standard in washing machines since 1986 – even among its competitors.
The first dishwasher with a width of only 45cm, such as the GV430 series, is the star of the 1987 Domotechnica trade fair.

The smoothly operating, ball-bearing CLOU from Neff, a tilt-proof, multi-level telescopic oven shelf rail, is launched in 1987.
Also in 1991, BSH began selling a compact/tabletop dishwasher.
Reacting to concerns that the refrigerants chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) were depleting the protective ozone layer in the upper atmosphere, BSH in 1993 began phasing out the use of CFCs and HCFCs in its refrigerators and freezers.
Following successful entry into the Chinese market in November 1994, the company began to expand its market presence in the Pacific region.
Late in 1994 Gaggenau, maker of high-end built-in cooking appliances, was acquired.
BSH revenues for 1994 totaled DEM 6.88 billion ($4.8 billion), up 3 percent from the previous year.
There were several other developments in late 1994.
In addition to the European expansion, the company entered the American and Asian market in 1994.
A plant for assembling washing machines was opened close to the Polish city of Łódź in 1994.
During 1995 BSH completed a continent-wide restructuring of its distribution system, reducing its European warehouses from 36 to 10 and thereby achieving yearly cost savings of DEM 30 million.
In the spring of 1995 BSH opened a new factory in Nauen, located in the eastern German state of Brandenburg, capable of producing 400,000 tumble dryers annually.

A second plant opened on the same site in the summer of 1996 and had the capacity to make 350,000 top-loading washing machines each year.
On the innovation front, BSH introduced the Aqua-Sensor system for dishwashers in 1996.
BSH in early 1996 entered into a joint venture with China's Yangzi Group to manufacture and supply refrigerators and freezers in China from a factory in Chuzhou, Anhui province.
The Peruvian cooling appliances manufacturer Coldex was acquired in 1996 to broaden the company’s base on the South American growth market.
In March 1997 BSH began producing dishwashers at a plant in New Bern, North Carolina, where Robert Bosch had been making power tools.
The factory in Gaggenau itself was closed in 1997.
Revenues for fiscal 1997 totaled $115 million.
In 1997 the company's BSH Continental subsidiary in Brazil opened a new refrigerator/freezer production site in the Campinas region.
1997: BSH's first United States production plant begins operating in New Bern, North Carolina.
There were several more acquisitions in 1998.
After the hectic activity of 1998, BSH paused to consolidate its newly won operations the following year.
Although there were no further acquisitions, a couple of new products for 1999 were particularly noteworthy.
Net income for 1999, however, amounted to only DEM 111 million ($57.1 million), a significant drop from the peak figure of DEM 198.2 million recorded two years earlier.
In 1998, BSH also acquired the remaining shares in Balay, which by then also included the Safel brand, thus making the company a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSH. Another Local Hero of BSH. Home appliances from BSH have been available in Poland since 1990. It was the first new plant to be built by BSH in Eastern Europe, The washing machines from Łódź were initially intended exclusively for the Eastern European markets but were also produced for EU countries from 1999.
In October 2000 BSH entered into a joint venture with Japan's Hitachi, Ltd. to make front-loading washing machines at a Hitachi plant in Kabinburi, Thailand.
At the end of 2000, Wörner left the company after 13 years of globalizing and having shepherded the firm into position as the world's third largest maker of white goods.
In mid-2001 BSH launched a restructuring of its European refrigerator/freezer operations, which were under severe competitive pressure.
The development of the South American market began with the takeover of the leading Brazilian home appliance manufacturer Continental in 2001.
The venture, 60 percent owned by BSH, began production in January 2002, marketing the washers under the Bosch, Siemens, and Hitachi brands for the southeast Asian and Pacific region.
During 2002 a modern dishwasher production plant was added to the Lódz site and ground was broken in New Bern, North Carolina, for a $200 million expansion of BSH's main United States facility that was to add more than 1,400 new jobs.
In 2003, Neff develops the TwistPad, a detachable magnetic one-button control for stoves that is elegant, safe and easy to clean.
BSH aimed to more than double its North American sales, hoping to reach $1 billion by about 2006.
BSH also began stepping up its involvement in the Arab world in 2010, thus developing a strong international network over the years that guaranteed financial security and economic success.
