Nashville Zoo Veterinary Department is offering an externship for 4th-year Veterinary School Students, both international and domestic, working towards a career in exotic animal medicine. This internship is posted May 1st through September 15th of every year with interviews in October.
Purpose
The Veterinary Intern assists in every aspect of the medical care of the Nashville Zoo's animals, including veterinary procedures, clinical lab work, and care of hospitalized/quarantined animals.
Key Responsibilities
-Work with three full-time veterinarians, three full time licensed veterinary technicians, and two full-time hospital keepers.
-Assist with day-to-day operations of the zoo's medical procedures including preventative and emergency care including examinations, clinical procedures, surgery, and necropsy.
-Assist doctors in keeping thorough records of all medical cases and procedures.
-Assist with animal husbandry (cleaning, feeding, and medicating) of hospitalized patients and quarantine animals.
-Provide laboratory support for veterinary medical technicians, including hematology, parasitology, and cytology.
-Responsible for researching and studying about upcoming and current cases
-Assist with tasks that keep the hospital function smoothly including stocking of medical supplies, wrapping surgical equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital.

The Quality Assurance Tester Co-Op will perform manual testing tasks as assigned by QA leads (functional testing, browser testing, and content verification), on projects for the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal Watch, and other online products. Throughout a series of predefined releases; contribute to test case development and execution, and identify and log defects into the issue-tracking system. Assist in developing a QA Knowledge base by documenting product knowledge, and developing detailed prerequisites and back-end data conditions used to perform data integrity validation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Become familiar with quality-assurance concepts and types of testing, such as functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing.
* Successfully complete manual functional testing for multiple website components and functions, based on test cases and specifications provided.
* Develop a detailed understanding of how software defects are identified, reproduced, described, and documented in issue-tracking software such as JIRA.
* Develop an in-depth understanding of how to complete QA testing on multiple operating systems and web browsers.
* Gain experience working with a professional QA team on a complex software project and learn how QA fits into the overall Software Development Lifecycle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Understanding of technology, particularly web technologies.
* Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
* Familiarity with basic web concepts and standard vocabulary of web pages; i.e.: font color, "center well", banners, URLs, tables, margins, uses the phrase "line-spacing" instead of "leading", etc.
* Understands how hardware (particularly monitors), operating systems, and browsers can affect the display of web pages.
o Manual QA testing experience preferred, but not required.
o Ability to read functional specs and develop test strategies from those specs.
* Experience taking verbal/written instructions and developing general test strategies
* Understands how to create screenshots on Windows and Mac
* Knowledge of cross-browser differences; at least some experience using IE, Firefox and Chrome. Experience with Safari is helpful, but not necessary.
* Knowledge of iOS and Android mobile device operating systems
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to think analytically and a desire to learn.
* Self-sufficient and pride of ownership.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment

Cleveland.com is seeking a spring semester intern to join our Statehouse reporting team. This position offers a front-row seat to Ohio politics and policy, with opportunities to learn the craft of political journalism in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
You will attend legislative committee meetings, press conferences, and floor sessions at the Statehouse, taking notes and tracking policy debates as they unfold. You will work closely with a senior reporter while also being encouraged to identify and follow your own story ideas. The position requires spending at least two days per week downtown at the Statehouse. This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
As part of the newsroom team, you will also learn how to integrate artificial intelligence tools into your reporting workflow. Our newsroom is developing practices that will prepare you for the future of journalism.
This 40-hour a week internship is paid.
The pay rate for this position is $15.00/hr.
