PURPOSE
Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of building materials by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Compiles list of available vehicles. Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.
Assigns orders to lift operators to be pulled from inventory.
Issues keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.
Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
Investigates overdue vehicles.
Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio.
Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses.
Establishes service or delivery routes.
Assigns helpers to drivers.
Other duties as assigned

Your Day-to-Day at Murphy Company
Extracting and recording critical information from client calls, analyzing appropriate next steps for serving clients, and coordinating/assigning proper technical resources to serve clients.
Document and follow-up with service technicians, external vendors, and clients to ensure proper completion of tasks. Effective use of our Service Management Platform (PENTA) and Smartsheet is vital, as is providing internal support for inter-departmental teams across functions.
Coordination of manpower for completion of scheduled maintenance, projects, and inter-company support.

Position Summary
The Service Dispatch Coordinator plays a critical role in the daily operations of the Power Systems Service Department. Reporting to the Branch Manager, this position is responsible for scheduling technicians, managing work orders, coordinating with customers and internal teams, and maintaining accurate service records. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dispatching & Scheduling
Schedule and dispatch field service technicians based on job requirements, technician skillsets, location, and availability.
Adjust schedules proactively to meet customer demands and optimize labor and resource usage.
Communicate job details, updates, and changes to technicians and customers in a timely and professional manner.
Track job progress to ensure timely completion and update records accordingly.
Order and track necessary parts and tooling to support field service operations and meet project timelines.
Work Order & Administrative Support
Open, update, and close work orders in the service management system.
Ensure accuracy in job documentation, including timecards, labor entries, and billing segments.
Monitor credit approvals and enforce COD collection requirements when applicable.
Process supplier invoices and ensure correct job allocation.
Maintain calibration certificates for testing equipment and tools.
Customer Service
Serve as a key point of contact for walk-in and phone-in service requests.
Maintain positive, courteous, and professional relationships with customers.
Resolve routine issues independently and escalate more complex concerns to the Branch Manager.
Support the company's image by ensuring high standards of customer interaction and responsiveness.
Department Operations & Support
Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe service facility, yard, and tool inventory.

Primary Job Function:
Maintain the delivery driver's daily schedules, dispatch route changes such as delivery priority & added vendor pick-ups, communicate delivery delays directly to the customer and sales teams.
Daily Duties
Not limited to the following
Coordinate vendor pick-up schedule and same-day deliveries.
Review and communicate route timing.
Communicate traffic conditions and route changes to delivery drivers.
Schedule and maintain the out-of-town delivery calendar.
Monitor the routes and status of drivers to coordinate and prioritize their deliveries.
Prioritizing same-day deliveries according to urgency and order status.
Monitor and respond to inquiries by the sales team on delivery ETA's and Pickup times.
Update delivery addresses as received by route drivers.
Confirm all manifests are closed from the previous day.
Review / Audit delivery photos for quality and report findings to Outbound Supervisor.
Review PTO calendar daily and communicate with Outbound Supervisor.
Requirements:
Prior experience as dispatcher or relevant position.
Experience with Epicor Eclipse is a plus!
Fast typing with experience in data entry.
Basic knowledge of DOT guidelines and emergency procedures.
Proficient in English (oral and written).
Proficient in Spanish is preferred
Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities.
Active listener with excellent communication skills

Role Overview: The Public Safety Dispatcher performs multiple functions in the Communications Center in support of various department personnel at the University Park Campus, Health Sciences Campus, and University Parking Center. Receives calls for service from faculty, staff, students and guests, and dispatches the appropriate department personnel via radio communications equipment. Serves as a vital link between the service community, Public Safety personnel, and all other emergency and nonemergency services available at the university and in the surrounding community. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening skills and the ability to make instantaneous decisions based on minimal information. In addition, skilled in controlling emotions and ability to work under pressure. Step into a role where your duties will include but are not limited to:
Receives emergency calls requesting police, fire, and rescue assistance.
Determines appropriate response in accordance with established procedures and assessment of the situation. Dispatches Public Safety units in response to calls for service.
Maintains a record of all calls and radio messages. Monitors status of public safety, parking transportation, campus cruiser, residential protection, assets protection, and other special duty units. Prepares appropriate management reports of calls.
Receives calls and complaints regarding service and assistance and refers them to the appropriate unit. Operates telephone switching equipment.
Requests back-up or follow-up assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, and other agencies.
Operates Computer Aided Dispatch system and maintains manual and automated records systems. Conducts information searches as needed.
Please note: Shifts include holidays, weekends, and overtime; must have availability to work certain special events and emergencies.

Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 6-12 months
Valid driver's license for 2 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Related Undergraduate Study and previous switchboard or radio communications experience preferred.
Working knowledge of two-way radio communications procedures.
General knowledge of campus and surrounding area geography.
Experience in an emergency dispatch communications center, law enforcement dispatch, high volume call center, or related environment.
Ability to effectively use a phonetic alphabet, speak clearly and concisely, follow oral and written instructions, transfer information accurately, handle a wide range of interpersonal interactions effectively and learn to use applicable automated dispatch and law enforcement systems and databases.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.
Hourly Range
The hourly rate for this position is $28.31. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent
Minimum Experience: 6 - 12 months
Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in related field. Ability to type 30 net words per minute. Working knowledge of computer input and retrieval functions.
