Full-time Description ********************************************************* Primarily responsible for safely driving a Box Truck with a gross combination weight rating, or GCWR, under 26,000 pounds in compliance with safety and DOT regulations. Load/Unload lumber and building materials (e.g., doors, windows, plywood, millwork, etc.) and deliver materials to customers/job sites, ensuring no damage to material. Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines Detect, eliminate or minimize safety hazards. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspection of assigned vehicle and report any discrepancy to the dispatcher immediately. Maintain accurate vehicle records and logs Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. Check load and ensure it is properly secured before leaving the yard. Check load to ensure correct material and amount of material is being delivered. Drive within the laws and rules of the state. Other duties as requested directed or assigned. Requirements Valid NJ license. Clean Driving record. Ability to meet all USDOT physical regulations. Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions. Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures. Ability to read maps and navigate to job sites in a timely manner. Previous lumber or building supplies experience strongly desired. At least one year of box truck driving experience preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, talking and hearing. It frequently requires the use of hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with the hands and arms throughout the day. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. Position Overview The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely operation of company-owned dump trucks to transport soil, aggregates, demolition debris, asphalt, and other construction materials to and from excavation sites, disposal facilities, and supplier locations. This role is a key support position within the Excavation Division, ensuring materials are moved as needed to maintain production schedules and site safety. This position will work out of our South Plainfield, NJ office. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Operate single-axle, tri-axle, or tractor-trailer dump trucks to haul and deliver excavation-related materials. Safely load, transport, and unload soil, stone, sand, gravel, asphalt, and debris. Perform pre-trip, en- route, and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers in compliance with DOT and company safety standards. Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, and load counts; submit paperwork daily. Communicate with dispatcher & EPE General manager for daily tasks Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety protocols at all times. Conduct routine truck maintenance checks (oil, fuel, tires, lights, hydraulic systems) and report any defects or required repairs. Ensure proper covering/tarping of loads to meet safety and environmental requirements. Assist excavation and site crews when not driving (spotting, staging materials, site cleanup). Uphold company values of professionalism, safety, and efficiency on all job sites. Qualifications Qualifications: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, with clean driving record. Minimum 2 years of dump truck driving experience in excavation, construction, or related industry preferred. Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement, and local/state hauling laws. Ability to operate manual transmissions and air brake systems. Physical ability to climb into/out of truck cabs, lift up to 50 lbs., and work outdoors in varying conditions. JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Local Linehaul Driver Reports to: Director of National Logistics/Logistics Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Fortune East is seeking a Local Linehaul Driver to join our team. You will drive a predetermined delivery route, which allows for a nine to five schedule. While you will work one or two overnights a week, this route is ideal for someone with OTR trucking experience who wants to get home at night and on weekends. Depending on your assigned route, you will be responsible for either live load or drop and hook trailers. Applicants must have a Class A CDL. Doubles endorsement is preferred, and we expect you to earn HAZMAT and tanker endorsements upon hire. Responsibilities Drive predetermined delivery route. Make deliveries on schedule.
