Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring. Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinetwork. Applies shock absorbing, sound deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls. Responsible for production and quality of millwork, trim metal studs, drywall, and acoustic ceilings. Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. Fits and nails sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings. Installs door and window bucks in designated positions in building framework, and braces them with boards, nailed to framework. Manage small special projects. Skills and Qualifications: Ability to understand directions and read blueprints. Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. Must be able to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects. Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment. Must be able stand or walk for long periods. Must be able to read and understand measuring tools and levels. Experience: 4 - 6 years of carpentry experience is required. High School diploma or GED.
