Job Description: This position will be a temporary assignment with terms agreed to upon selection. The Construction Engineer will support EPC operation related engineering concerns and general guidance on best practices as observed from start of construction to end of SOLV's warranty period. Position Responsibilities and Duties: Facilitate an open flow of communication between operations and engineering partners. To provide more transparency to what is and is not working during operations and potential remediations. Be the POC for operations to present engineering concerns, and work with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to understand and communicate reasoning behind design methodology and provide engineered solutions to operation concerns. Assist the operation team with engineering related construction RFI's, internal and external during the construction phase of a project. Exhibit urgency in resolving RFI's, and other operations concerns. Know and understand all project specific design requirements (SOLV Energy requirements, client/contract requirements, and permit requirements). Develop and maintain good relationships with site teams - Superintendents, Foreman, Project Management, etc. Ensure sufficient knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to be able to support operations and assist in confirming SOLV is compliant with the EPC Contract. Direct the implementation of autonomous pile driving systems to ensure SOLV fully captures material, labor, and schedule savings associated with terrain following racking systems. Assist the operation team with more engineering intensive clients (and client's engineer/independent engineer). Guiding project teams through design comments with consultants. Assist the warranty team with confirmation of responsibility as it relates to manufacturer failures, compromised design, and installation errors. Develop and lead project specific training for project team personnel (Project Management and Field Teams) in the use of GPS enabled pile drivers and associated software and internal proprietary tools where applicable. Support SOLV Energy's development of continuous construction monitoring using drone technology. Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or related field of study preferred 1 - 5 years of construction/engineering related experience preferred Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills Aptitude for problem solving, and strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel Exposure in CAD/GIS and aptitude for proficiency in these and other engineering software Ability to read and understand project drawings, and specifications Field experience preferred Work Environment and Physical Demands: Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception Occasional driving, climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposed places The noise intensity level can be high Ability to work in office and field setting and manage daily position responsibilities during site visits Remote position with up to 50% Travel SOLV Energy Is an Equal Opportunity Employer At SOLV Energy we celebrate the power of our differences. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · When in field, responsible to support project safety policies and report safety information and violations to the Project Superintendent. · Develop and/or review tracking logs for accuracy and to monitor for job trends, as required. · Alert Project Manager regarding project progress and issues. · Participates in weekly progress meeting and develops and/or review/correct meeting minutes and attachments. · If OFSC, Assist Project Administrator with the placement of progress photos on the website. · Assist Project Manager in the review and analysis of all pre-construction design phase submittals, as directed by Project Manager. · Ensure that all work products are properly scanned into Prolog System and filed appropriately. · Maintain shop drawings, RFIs, POs, proposals, RFQs, and other job specific documentation. · Maintains costing tracking database and submits to Project Manager for approval. · Assist Superintendent in expediting critical items needs to maintain project schedule. · In coordination with Project Manager and/or Scheduler, collect and negotiate cost from Contractors and load (data entry) cost into project schedules. · Update project progress schedule at least once per month. · Assist Project Manager in establishing and preparing project work scopes by using meeting notes to compile the first draft of the report. · Provide necessary information and coordinate with Project Administrator for the preparation of bid set specifications. · Solicit potential bidders for all trade areas to assure a sufficient number of bidders, as needed. · Document all pre-bid and pre-award meetings as needed, may be completed with Project Administrator if applicable · Work with Project Manager to develop solid recommendations for bid awards · Reviews (abstracts) all bids for consistency with bid documents and project needs. · Once Superintendents have reviewed contract issues, the Project Engineer interprets the documents and coordinates possible resolution with the Project Manager to issues related to the project drawings and specification, and other project related needs. (If OSFC job include OFSC policies and procedures). · Review for compliance with project contract documents, if compliance recommends approval to Project Manager and process all fieldwork change orders, requests for proposal, and request for information, as directed by the Project Manager. · Audit all contract pricing for accuracy and documentation compliance, with appropriate mark ups. Auditing must include a cross check of pricing with contract provided project estimates, estimating guides and any available internal resources. Make recommendations to Project Manager for appropriate action. · Track and maintain contractor closeout checklist for submitted items. · Assist Superintendent with scheduling the life safety inspections for building occupancy, as needed. · Prepare and distribute project closeout packets to prime and/or sub-contractors · Collect operations, maintenance manuals, and other close out documents as required by the contract, which are to be turned over to Owner. · Prepare and submit as-built drawings for completeness, forward to architect for review and verification to the compliance of the contract documents. · Assist Superintendent in scheduling the orientation/training meetings are provided to the owner regarding equipment utilization, as needed. · Assist Project Manager in processing the final change orders to finalize contract, review final pay-applications for proper waivers and verify closeout activities are fulfilled. · Assist the Project Manager in coordinating the delivery of required attic stock to Owner. · Assist the Project Manager in coordinating the keying and move-in for turnover to the Owner. · Assist the Project Manager in securing the occupancy certificate. · Participate in the development of the job schedule under the direction of the Scheduler. · Update schedule as required · Provide perspective bidders with all information necessary to ensure a quality bidding process and support architect with the development of addenda(s) as needed.
