Reporting Relationships
The Engineer I reports to their Department or Engineering manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a specific technical area.
Leads projects as assigned by engineering manager.
Knowledge and experience with materials analysis methods including SEM, EBSD and XRD.
Documents work effectively and presents results to internal cross functional groups.
Develops and maintains procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support technical area.
Works cross functionally on projects and initiatives.
Applies problem solving, SPC, and other engineering fundamentals to support investigations.
Supports continuous improvement initiatives, including safety and environmental improvements.

Materials Analysis and Technical Support Engineers
The Materials Evaluation Lab characterizes the microstructure and physical properties of TSMD's products to support production and engineering goals. Engineers in the MEL Lab support Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and Technical Support functions with materials testing and analysis, focusing on advanced microstructural analysis and materials property characterization. Materials Analysis Engineers consult with TSMD technical teams, run advanced testing, and prepare reports with results and conclusions, working in an ISO14001/ISO9001 certified environment.
Candidates in this position will also support the Technical Support team by applying structured problem-solving methodologies, preparing reports, and presenting findings to customers. They collaborate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement to develop solutions to customers' product performance problems.

Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and systems according to the established schedule.
Keep accurate records of all inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as local fire marshal requirements.
Maintain EPA Universal Certification and stay updated on all relevant legislation, including EPA regulations and South Coast Air Quality District regulations related to “CFC” and refrigerant handling laws.
Follow shortage control programs and procedures.
Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.

Skills You Will Need
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with state and federal regulations, local fire marshal requirements, and EPA/South Coast Air Quality District regulations regarding refrigerant handling.
EPA Certification & Licensing: Must have an EPA Universal Certification and a license (preferred) with in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of personnel safety procedures and safety engineering codes to maintain a secure work environment.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently while adjusting to changing priorities.
Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with the Chief Engineer, Store Management, and team members.
Record-Keeping & Documentation: Ability to maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs for compliance and operational tracking.
Dependability & Initiative: A self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and accountability in all responsibilities.
Who You Are
This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands.
Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
May involve reaching above eye level
Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations, based on department and company needs
Able to travel between store and building locations
