Summary:
The Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in a telemetry unit, focusing on continuous cardiac monitoring and assessment. This role encompasses evaluating patient health, implementing specialized care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals with cardiac conditions. The position requires strong clinical skills in telemetry nursing, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.
Essential Work Functions:
Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care
Prepares equipment and aids physician during cardiac-related procedures and examinations
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's cardiac status and response to interventions
Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
Maintains confidentiality of patients and client
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

How you'll contribute
An Occupational Therapist (OT) who excels in this role:
Provide occupational therapy services to patients needing to develop, recover, and maintain occupational skills.
Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills.
Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed.
Seek consultation as necessary.
Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment settings.
Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
Supervise and delegate the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations, and practice standards.

Compensation:
Base Pay: KUSD's minimum and maximum new hire salary ranges for teachers include the district's contracted salary, determined by years of experience and higher education, plus state-funded Prop 301 money. The contracted salary in combination with $8,500 in 301 money creates the base wages for teachers, which are represented by the salary ranges.
(Prop 301 money is paid separately and not included in the employment contract.)
The salary range for candidates with up to four years of teaching experience is $45,575 - $55,475.
The salary range for candidates with four or more years of teaching experience is $47,575 - $57,475.
Performance Pay: In addition to base pay, certified teaching staff are eligible for an additional $4,500 in Prop 301 performance pay.
One-Time Critical Needs Stipends (all critical needs stipends are pending appropriate teaching certification):
Candidates offered and accepting critical needs teaching positions in math, science, and kindergarten may be eligible to receive a one-time $2,000 stipend.

Required Skills/Experience:

Candidates must have prior janitorial and maintenance experience with a keen eye for identifying areas needing cleaning or repair.
