Essential Job Functions:
Ensure corporate compliance with state and federal Weights and Measure.
Responsible for managing the Scale Maintenance Program including the capital budget process.
Engages with the Regional Operations management and other internal and external resources to evaluate, develop strategies, programs and services to continually provide improved service delivery of scale maintenance and ensure alignment with grain divisional strategies.
Liaises and ensures compliance with governing and regulatory bodies at the local, state and federal levels.
In conjunction with the regional operations management team, participates in the planning, development and ongoing management of capital projects.
Implements and supports proactive health, safety, environmental and security programs with the functional guidance of Environment, Health & Safety Department.
Manages quality assurance programs for all projects/activities, ensuring that all work complies with applicable quality regulations, codes, divisional standards and customer requirements.
Identifies, implements and communicates management and operational “best practices” to colleagues within regions, divisions and inter-divisional partners/customers.
Provides direction to Supply Chain Services in negotiations, and evaluates the services of contracted scale maintenance resources.
Develops and submits regular and ad hoc reports outlining work unit achievements, challenges and opportunities, congruent with business unit, divisional and corporate administrative procedures.
Directs and participates in various working groups for the ongoing maintenance and development of Viterra's physical assets. Gathers and communicates technical knowledge through participation in industry and supplier information exchanges.
Provides direction and insight into future facility development with respect to equipment specifications, capacities and standards.
Works closely with Regional Operations management on facility condition and maintenance requirements and provides credible information on the operations and maintenance of weigh systems.
Evaluates and recommends critical inventory based on facility equipment design and requirements.
Performs other duties as required.
Other Job Functions:
Demonstrated experience in reading building plans and specifications, and developing and effectively managing contracts with external service providers.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
Ability to work and interact well with others
High School Diploma or GED
Prior experience working in an elevator and/or terminal
Farming background a plus
Minimum five (5) to eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in scale maintenance and/or construction, including bulk material handling systems
A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Business Administration or Commerce is considered an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
Special Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend.
Exposure to moderate to loud noise within the work environment.
Exposure to heavy concentrations of grain dust.

Job Summary:
The Project Engineer will support the safe design and construction of facility projects for Viterra Grain. The design and construction must align with strategic Viterra initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist with preparation and/or oversight of the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at facilities.
Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required.
Prepare and/or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants.
Prepare bid documents that will include project goals, definition, scope of work and general flow diagrams, design and layout.
Provide effective and proactive communication with all site leaders.
Review equipment specification recommendations and review construction bid packages.
Prepare and/or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project costs.
Prepare and/or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activity summaries for projects being managed.
Work with the Director of Engineering, Regional Operation Managers or Project Manager to evaluate, plan and develop capital expenditure projects.
Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, schedule, and budget.
Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility.
Provide assistance on review of final project to provide review of meeting project goals, punch list items, commissioning, and start-up.
Provide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savings.
Always ensure compliance with Viterra safety policies by putting safety before profit and production.
Demonstrate ability to control scope, cost, and schedule on all assigned projects.
Lead by example to ensure that safety culture is a natural part of daily duties.
Communicate and model good business practices that support the company's core values.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Civil, Structural or Mechanical preferred.
Minimum 5 years of combined project management and construction experience required.
Prefer experience in material handling and/or bulk storage facilities.
Experience in leading an effective project team.
