Base Salary: GL-9/GS-11 $63,148 - $120,145 per year
Locality Pay: Varies by duty location.
Overtime Pay: Up to 25%
Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression from GL-9 to GS-11 to GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in the lower grade level.
All Border Patrol Agents may select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health and insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan that is similar to traditional and ROTH 401(k) offerings. *Recruitment Incentive* Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents (as defined in 5 CFR 575.102) will be offered up to a $20,000 incentive. The first $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
· Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
· Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
· Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
· Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
· Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications:
GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
· Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
· Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
· Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
· Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.
Other Requirements:
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (including protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).
Veterans' Preference: You may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans' Recruitment Appointment (VRA). The age restriction does not apply if you are Veterans' Preference eligible.
Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement, and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. Border Patrol work requires the ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English. Border Patrol Agents will be provided training to become proficient in the Spanish language at the Academy.

Job Summary
An employee in this class answers emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and other emergency services using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems. Employees in this class have successfully completed all training and can function proficiently with the Law Enforcement or EMS radio system. Key Responsibilities
· Receives, evaluates, and prioritizes requests for emergency and non-emergency service from the public, police and fire agencies, County offices, contract agencies, and other callers;
· Interviews emergency callers to determine the nature of the emergency, location of the incident, other related information and the need for dispatching of emergency assistance using a telephone switchboard according to established rules and procedures;
· Processes the requests received according to procedure; determines as much information as possible from the requestor to enable the most appropriate agency of responsibility and the most appropriate level of response;
· Uses computer aided dispatch to enter requests for service and track officer-initiated incidents;
· Dispatches fire units, police units, ambulances, and other necessary emergency and non-emergency equipment and personnel to aid officers in the field or the general public in emergency and non-emergency situations;
· Establishes a priority to each request in accordance with established guidelines and enters the request into the computer-assisted dispatch system for dispatch;

The principal function of an employee in this position is to supervise a caseload of misdemeanor offenders to monitor compliance with court-ordered terms of probation for the protection of the community. This is an unarmed position. The work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Misdemeanor Probation, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Listed below are a number of behaviors which may disqualify an applicant from consideration for employment.
Involvement with Illegal Drugs
Automatic disqualification for use of marijuana/THC, regardless of its form, within the last one year. This includes the use of cannabis, hashish, hash oil, and THC in both synthetic and natural forms.
Automatic disqualification for use of any other illegal drug in the past three years. Unlawful prescription drug use in the past three years.
Any illegal intravenous drug use. Manufacturing, selling, offering to sell, distribution or transporting for sale any illegal drugs within the past three years.
All drug use and involvement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Driving Record
Automatic disqualification for misdemeanor DUI conviction in the past two years or two or more in the past five years.
Driving history showing a continuing pattern of poor decision-making will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Criminal Record
Automatic disqualification for a conviction of any felony crime unless under 18 and 10 or more years prior to application submittal.
Automatic disqualification for conviction of misdemeanor sex crime or crime of deceit within five years of application submittal. Any misdemeanor conviction for crimes involving domestic battery or violence, child abuse, stalking, or voyeurism. All misdemeanor convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

About the Role
Our Environmental Engineering & Sciences team works on a wide range of projects, from groundwater monitoring and contaminated site investigations to environmental compliance and hazardous materials (hazmat) assessments for large-scale projects.
We are seeking a mid-level Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our growing Oregon/Idaho team, based out of Portland, OR, with flexibility for the right candidate to sit in Boise, ID. This is an excellent opportunity for a geologist/hydrogeologist who has strong analysis and report development skills, is detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.
You Will
You'll work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality contaminated site, hazmat, geologic, and hydrogeologic services, including:
* Designing and implementing sampling programs for groundwater, soil, and other environmental media.
* Analyzing and interpreting hydrogeologic data and preparing clear, accurate technical reports.
* Supporting hazardous materials (hazmat) assessments for large-scale NEPA analyses, such as corridor studies, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments and similar.
* Implementing programmatic services for long-term stormwater and groundwater compliance monitoring to meet a wide range of regulatory drivers in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
You Have
* A bachelor's or master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
* 5+ years of relevant experience in hydrogeologic assessments, contaminated site investigations, or similar aspects of environmental consulting. Oregon or Idaho professional licensure (or ability to obtain within 6 months) preferred.
* Experience with groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, or hazmat-related NEPA or environmental review work.
* An interest in development and implementation of sampling programs to meet project-specific goals and provide high-quality products to a range of public and private clients.
Compensation Information: Base salary for this position is in the range of $80,000-$115,000+ depending on qualifications and location.

* Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant.

* Candidates are required to complete intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, followed by specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD. Failure to pass the training program may result in separation from the Secret Service.
* Sign a mobility agreement stating your willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas.
* Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
* Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.(Note: Lasik, ALK, RK, and PRK corrective eye surgeries are acceptable eye surgeries for special agent applicants. Applicants will be considered eligible for the special agent position provided specific visual tests are passed. * Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500,1000 and 2000Hz ranges.
Qualifications
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. * Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing your grade point average for all four years of undergraduate study, including all transferred courses.

As part of the application process the applicant will be required to complete the United States Secret Service Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT). It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.

* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
Applicants will be required to travel to all phases of the hiring process at their own expense. If a final job offer is extended, relocation expenses will not be authorized for first duty location.
The Secret Service prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone) (exception a single conservative and unobtrusive tattoo in the form of a ring is authorized on one finger).

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Instrumentation and Electrical Forman is responsible for planning, supervising, performing and coordinating all phases of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electrical systems and service work in new or remodeled facilities. Also responsible for planning the daily activities for crew of workers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Typical assignments include:

· Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
· Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.

Job Summary
An employee in this class answers emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and other emergency services using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems. Starting hourly wage is $25.11 The principal function of an employee in this position is to supervise a caseload of misdemeanor offenders to monitor compliance with court-ordered terms of probation for the protection of the community. This is an unarmed position. The work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Misdemeanor Probation, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment with some field work that includes exposer to potential personal danger.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Supervision
* Manages an assigned caseload of offenders on supervised probation
* Establishes and maintains a case file on each offender, scheduling appointments for established periodic visits
* Recommend modifications to probation conditions, including, initiating affidavit to revoke, or petition for early termination
* Monitors restitution and fine payment schedules, and documents, and maintains records of all contacts with the defendant
Court & Legal Proceedings
* Supervises individual offenders for compliance with court orders and sentence requirements
* Monitors court dockets and calendars and runs record checks to determine additional offenses
* Attends court and evidentiary hearings and presents recommendations and/or testimony on violations and sentencing
* Work collaboratively with treatment providers, attorneys, law enforcement etc.
Support & Rehabilitation
* Refer probationers to support programs, including mental health counseling, substance abuse, domestic batterers treatment, or other evaluations and treatments and monitors attendance at and progress of treatment
* Receives and reviews monthly or other periodic reports from treatment providers on offenders and takes appropriate remedial actions as necessary
* Monitors urinalysis testing and conducts home visits and searches

The principal function of an employee in this position is to supervise a caseload of misdemeanor offenders to monitor compliance with court-ordered terms of probation for the protection of the community. This is an unarmed position. The work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Misdemeanor Probation, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment with some field work that includes exposer to potential personal danger.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Supervision
· Manages an assigned caseload of offenders on supervised probation
· Establishes and maintains a case file on each offender, scheduling appointments for established periodic visits
· Recommend modifications to probation conditions, including, initiating affidavit to revoke, or petition for early termination
· Monitors restitution and fine payment schedules, and documents, and maintains records of all contacts with the defendant
Court & Legal Proceedings
· Supervises individual offenders for compliance with court orders and sentence requirements
· Monitors court dockets and calendars and runs record checks to determine additional offenses
· Attends court and evidentiary hearings and presents recommendations and/or testimony on violations and sentencing
· Work collaboratively with treatment providers, attorneys, law enforcement etc.
Support & Rehabilitation
· Refer probationers to support programs, including mental health counseling, substance abuse, domestic batterers treatment, or other evaluations and treatments and monitors attendance at and progress of treatment
· Receives and reviews monthly or other periodic reports from treatment providers on offenders and takes appropriate remedial actions as necessary
· Monitors urinalysis testing and conducts home visits and searches
Other Duties
· Performs all work duties and activities following County policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
· Human and criminal behavior, interviewing, counseling, and investigative techniques applicable to case monitoring
· Various evaluation and treatment programs, social and service agencies, and other community resources available to defendants
· Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful, volatile, and hostile situations
· Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, codes, regulations, and established procedures
· Operate specialized equipment such as electronic monitoring, alcohol detection, and personal defense devices
· Maintain defendant and department confidentiality
Special Qualifications
· Idaho NCIC access certification
· Must be able to obtain P.O.S.T. certification within one year of employment
· Must successfully complete a background investigation
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or GED equivalent is required, bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral or social sciences preferred
· Two (2) years' experience in probation monitoring, social service, or court-related behavioral services

Misdemeanor Probation Disqualifiers
Listed below are a number of behaviors which may disqualify an applicant from consideration for employment.
Involvement with Illegal Drugs
Automatic disqualification for use of marijuana/THC, regardless of its form, within the last one year. This includes the use of cannabis, hashish, hash oil, and THC in both synthetic and natural forms.
Automatic disqualification for use of any other illegal drug in the past three years. Unlawful prescription drug use in the past three years.
Any illegal intravenous drug use. Manufacturing, selling, offering to sell, distribution or transporting for sale any illegal drugs within the past three years.
All drug use and involvement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Driving Record
Automatic disqualification for misdemeanor DUI conviction in the past two years or two or more in the past five years.
Driving history showing a continuing pattern of poor decision-making will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Criminal Record
Automatic disqualification for a conviction of any felony crime unless under 18 and 10 or more years prior to application submittal.
Automatic disqualification for conviction of misdemeanor sex crime or crime of deceit within five years of application submittal. Any misdemeanor conviction for crimes involving domestic battery or violence, child abuse, stalking, or voyeurism. All misdemeanor convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
