The Senior Accountant will handle the day-to-day accounting operations while also providing guidance to junior staff and partnering directly with the CFO. This role is highly hands-on - preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and reports - but also includes leadership in ensuring accuracy, process improvements, and accountability within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Lead the monthly close process and prepare financial reports across multiple entities.
Oversee AP/AR processing and review vendor invoices, payments, and expense reports.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, sales tax filings, and franchise reporting.
Supervise and mentor 1-2 accounting staff, reviewing work and providing guidance.
Prepare variance analysis and provide insights to the CEO on financial performance.
Support budgeting and forecasting efforts with data and reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA a plus but not required).
5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise, Restaurant 365, NetSuite, or Sage preferred).
Ability to work independently while providing oversight to junior staff.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
