Any identified issues shall be documented in the Issues Log to be addressed with the project team. + Distribute the completed redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets, and notify the project team, including the location where they have been saved. + Update the Redline Drawing log as redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets are generated and when new revisions are issued. + Populate Conduit schedule. + If BIM is required, the detailer is responsible for the following: + Assisting the project team in completing the BIM Specification Sheet and Installation Drawing Checklist. + Attending BIM coordination meetings as needed. + Following up after redlines have been distributed and addressing all model constructability issues. + Reviewing all Installation Drawings generated from the model. + Weekly time entry into JDE and saving timecards to a designated folder. + Maintain clear and consistent communication with your project team. Responsibilities Brasfield & Gorrie, a leading General Contractor in the Southeast, is searching for a Pipe Detailer to join our growing Utilities team at our Birmingham, Alabama office. General Summary: This position is responsible for creating detailed drawings required for Prefabrication. Drawings will include underground duct bank and racks, electrical room layouts, IT, data room layouts, overhead conduit routing, seismic bracing layout, light fixture layout, concrete slab embeds, in-wall devices layout, and various support methods. The ideal candidate will need a strong background in structural steel detailing, with demonstrated proficiency in Tekla Structures and a solid understanding of fabrication and erection processes. This role is essential in transforming design concepts and structural plans into precise 3D models and detailed shop and erection drawings that support efficient fabrication and installation. This is a full-time, onsite position based at our facility, offering the opportunity to collaborate closely with our engineering and fabrication teams. Key Responsibilities Create accurate 3D models and detailed shop, fabrication, and erection drawings using Tekla Structures. Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure designs meet project specifications and schedules. Develop connection details and shop tickets in accordance with project and industry standards. Review design drawings and specifications to identify potential issues and propose practical solutions. Use Bluebeam and other collaboration tools for reviewing, marking up, and managing project documents. Revise and update models and drawings based on feedback from engineers, architects, and field personnel. Ensure all detailing work complies with relevant building codes, standards, and company procedures. Qualifications & Experience Proficiency in Tekla Structures is required; experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is a plus. Minimum of 25 years of experience in structural steel detailing, preferably within a fabrication or construction environment. Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, connections, and erection methods. Familiarity with AISC standards and applicable building codes (e.g., ADA, fire, and safety compliance). Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to interpret and coordinate engineering and architectural drawings. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment. Steel Detailer/Drafter is responsible for generating structural steel fabrication drawing and construction plans. Successful candidate will be well versed in verbal and written communications and fluent with computers, including specific experience with Advance Steel or equivalent, REVIT, and AutoCAD. Company will provide additional training. Candidate should have great attention to detail and be able to manage workloads that require deadlines. Preferred candidates have a minimum 2-year associates degree in construction related field, and/or 5 years of similar real-world experience including but not limited to general knowledge of commercial construction. Steel Detailer/Drafter will report to the VP of Engineering and work directly with acquisitions and fulfillment teams regularly. Duties include field verification of as-built and work-in-progress conditions.
