**What you will do**
+ Lead the creation, execution, and implementation of internal construction initiatives and special projects, including operational, process, and organizational improvements, technological and asset investments, and capital improvement projects.
+ Facilitate the identification of business gaps and opportunities, then lead or assist as necessary in the creation of defensible business cases, business plans, and internal governance approvals.
+ Convert internal business initiatives into specific purposes, goals, strategies, milestones, and deliverables.
+ Assist portfolio managers, initiative managers, and peers in the management of various initiatives, collaborating with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders.
+ Build and maintain relationships and partnerships across construction and COR (corporate) groups to ensure successful initiative execution.
+ Plan, coordinate, and facilitate on-site and off-site meetings, including project orientation, training, stakeholder meetings, team meetings, and periodic reviews.
+ Coordinate personnel readiness and people change management plans for operationalization and adoption of initiatives in conjunction with other corporate departments.
+ Develop, present, and disseminate information and training to maximize key stakeholders' knowledge and adoption of new and existing initiatives.
+ Lead initiative status updates and presentations, including engagement approaches, impacts, benefits, and barriers, to influence adoption and decision-making.
+ Facilitate dissemination of information to office locations and project teams as part of the overall communications and project management process.
+ Support and assist the portfolio manager by preparing and maintaining comprehensive reports on project progress, resource utilization, and budget adherence; provide daily KPI updates and identify potential risks or issues.
+ Track, monitor, and report initiative metrics, project deadlines, and benchmarks, supporting monthly progress reports covering action items and progress updates.

Utility Services staff support GIS data analytics, creation of notifications, work orders, invoicing, and financial reports utilizing enterprise resource planning software.
Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Distribution Designer for our Utility Services team to support projects in the greater Kansas City, MO area. This position will accommodate a REMOTE WORK arrangement, but the candidate will be expected to reside within approximately a one hour radius of Kansas City, MO in order to conduct field data acquisition in the client's service area in addition to performing design duties.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and different construction situations in the field, including rights-of-way
* Apply National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards, Client Standards, Federal, State or Local Municipal Guidelines, and/or other applicable guidelines to complete engineering designs (Pole Replacements, Communication Space Rearrangements, Joint-Use Design) for possible joint-use or make-ready construction

The Opportunity
As a Summer Intern at Black & Veatch in Overland Park, Kansas, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch.
You will be assigned to a functional area in Clean Transportation.
Internship Program Benefits

Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and studies
* Assist with the engineering analyses, designs, and report production
* Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables
* Organize and evaluate data, utilizing computer modeling to analyze systems
* Organize project materials, references, and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
* Relevant coursework or knowledge in Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations
* Understanding of engineering design principles and design guides
* Problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build relationships
* Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Minimum Qualifications
No experience required. Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering program. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

This intern position is expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.
