The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University (BCOM) was founded in 2013, at a cost of $85 million.
As of 2015, the school had received over $110 million from private investors.
The milestone year of 2016 was highlighted by the medical school ribbon cutting ceremony, The first White Coat Ceremony, and the start of instruction on August 15.
BCOM began its first courses in August 2016.
Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine’s first residency match day and awarding of full accreditation upon the graduation of its first class on May 8, 2020.
John Hummer introduced the medical school to Dan Burrell who then joined Mychaskiw and Hummer as a co-founder. It also belongs to the first faculty and staff, the Board of Trustee, the many supporters for their contributions, and most of all the first students (Class of 2020).
