POSITION SUMMARY
The Bus Aide is responsible for assisting the Bus Driver/Facilities Custodian to ensure children observe CPLC Early Childhood Development (ECD) safety rules and regulation while traveling on the school bus. Provide educational activities which will complement the childrens classroom education. Provide clear and appropriate directives to children regarding conduct and safety on the school bus. Promoting school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success as it relates to this position. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED is required; however, CDA is preferred. Applicant must have at least six months experience and/or training with children ages 0-5 is preferred. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to follow through on assigned tasks. Relate positively and clearly with children, parents, volunteers, and staff. Demonstrate basic computer literacy and skills. Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred. A valid Texas Drivers License free of restrictions is preferred for the successful candidate hired for centers located in Texas, and a valid New Mexico Driver's License free of restrictions is preferred for the successful candidate hired for centers located in New Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
Management
- Tracks attendance at assigned shift(s) and makes route assignment changes as needed
- Review payroll hours each pay period, identify overages, and review reasons for overages
- Identify aides who earn attendance bonus
- Help complete semi-annual and annual performance evaluation for each bus aide

Help investigate student behavior incidents that happen on the bus along with the Transportation Manager, Dean of Students for the scholars grade level, or the HIB Coordinator, if it is an HIB incident.
Coaching & Training

Coach & Train bus aides in best practices and procedures:
- Use of RightSpot and tablet
- Student management
- Bus safety procedures
- Loading and unloading students
- Works closely with Deans of Students to extend school culture and discipline principles to the transportation environment
- Ride each bus route once a month in order to provide support and coaching to bus aides

Review RightSpot on a daily basis to make sure that aides:
- Are logging students on and off the bus
- Updating records at each stop
- Starting and ending the trip
General
- Help identify and troubleshoot technical issues
- Help identify and problem solve recurring issues related to students, procedures, and bus aides

Requirements
Candidate should be detail oriented and able to do basic math.
Must have good computer skills and able to use MS Excel and Word and able to learn new programs.
Must be able to walk up and down steps and spend extended time riding school buses.
Strong interpersonal people skills
Experience coaching and training others a plus
