The primary function of this position is to drive the “Yard Tractor” to coordinate the movement of full trailers of product and supplies. Responsible for inspecting cab and trailers to insure they meet company quality standards and take appropriate action as needed.
Responsible for checking daily work schedule and check with supervisor for day's assigned schedule.
Responsible for checking conditions of trailers before and after contents have been loaded / unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
Responsible for driving “Yard Tractor” to the trailer staging area and attach the appropriate loaded trailer.
Responsible for connecting brake and air lines and transport the full trailer to the appropriate door at the dock.
Responsible to position / secure the wheel chocks under the appropriate wheels of the trailer.
Responsible to secure the trailer by electronically lowering the landing gear to the ground.
Responsible to disengage the trailer from the tractor, release the brake / air lines and ensure the trailer is secured.

Responsible to transport empty trailers with “Yard Tractor” or regular tractor to the proper storage location in the yard.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The primary function of this position is to drive the “Yard Tractor” to coordinate the movement of full trailers of product and supplies. Empty trailers from various loading dock doors and yard locations according schedule in a timely manner, couple / uncouple trailers to / from tractor and to secure trailers in the yard. Observing all safety regulations, ensuring all quality standards are met and that safe, courteous and professional behavior is observed in all situations.
Responsible for obtaining work schedule and daily production paperwork participate in the daily Safety meeting and prepare for operations.
Responsible to put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear and perform a safety check on equipment.
Responsible for performing “pre-trip safety check” inspection Yard Tractor according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Responsible for inspecting cab and trailers to insure they meet company quality standards and take appropriate action as needed.
Responsible for checking daily work schedule and check with supervisor for day's assigned schedule.
Responsible for checking conditions of trailers before and after contents have been loaded / unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
Responsible for driving “Yard Tractor” to the trailer staging area and attach the appropriate loaded trailer.
Responsible for connecting brake and air lines and transport the full trailer to the appropriate door at the dock.
Responsible to position / secure the wheel chocks under the appropriate wheels of the trailer.
Responsible to secure the trailer by electronically lowering the landing gear to the ground.
Responsible to disengage the trailer from the tractor, release the brake / air lines and ensure the trailer is secured.
Responsible for applying safety locks if needed and notify appropriate co-workers.
Responsible to transport empty trailers with “Yard Tractor” or regular tractor to the proper storage location in the yard.
Responsible for securing the trailer landing gear and uncouple the lines, secure trailer and notify Carrier.
Responsible for checking and set temperature controls in refrigerated / freezer units in trailers as needed.
Responsible to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as washing, adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
Responsible for performing general housekeeping duties in tractor cab, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
Responsible for reporting vehicle defects, accidents or damage to the vehicles as required.
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.
Shuttle Truck Certification required and provided.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Must be punctual, possess excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others.
Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision.
Must be able to drive shuttle trucks in reverse to placed trailers in loading doors.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English as it relates to the job and the safety regulations.
Must have good mathematical skills.
Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform the job.
Must be able to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
Preferred Qualifications:
One to two years of commercial driving experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 °ree; Fahrenheit or below); will work in the warehouse building as well as ALL facilities (indoor and outdoor).

The primary function of this position is to drive the “Yard Tractor” to coordinate the movement of full trailers of product and supplies.
