Reports deficiencies that cannot be performed at the operator level immediately to FMC Automotive Services so the vehicle can be removed from service and diagnostics run and/or necessary repairs made.
Notifies Fleet Service office of any incidents, accidents, mechanical concerns while or after operating vehicle.
Reports any incidents or accidents to TWU Department of Public Safety (DPS), assisting in the issuance of SORM Incident Report. Completes necessary accident involving vehicle to Risk Management using appropriate method or form.
Manages emergency assistance coordination while enroute or at destination and communicates information to passengers and FMC Fleet Services accordingly.
Responsible for the ensuring daily upkeep, cleaning and appearance of vehicles and for reporting any major problems to direct supervisor at the end of each shift.
Makes recommendations for professional cleaning or repair of interior, as needed, in daily inspection log for each vehicle.
Ensures vehicles are properly fueled at both beginning and end of shift or trip, recording all mileage and trip expenditures and/or travel documentation and receipts as required.
Transports vehicles for cleaning, disposal of waste, inspection, emergency weather protection, and other purposes as assigned.

* Participate in training to learn to maintain order and discipline among students on bus following District policies and procedures regarding disciplining of students and contact with school officials and parents.
* Participate in training to learn to fuel and clean exterior and interior of buses including picking up debris, sweeping and mopping floor, wiping upholstery, and cleaning headlights.
* Participate in training to learn to utilize two-way radio for bus to bus and bus to base communication.
* Participate in training to learn to perform first aid according to established guidelines and procedures.
* Rides along with Bus Drivers on regular and special events to learn routes and practical application of student management techniques.
Safety
* Observes all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
* Ensures proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, and reflector.
* Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
* Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Reports any hazardous conditions along scheduled route.

Minimum Required Qualifications
* Education: Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency preferred.
* Certification/License:

* Clear and valid Texas CDL Class B driver's license with (P) passenger and (S) school bus endorsement or ability to obtain license within 90 days after employment;
* Insurable by the District's insurance carrier required.

* Must be able to pass annual physical.
* Must be able to complete a 20-hour course while in training, and a recurring 8-hour course to maintain the CDL license.

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm (hours vary depending on the route that is driven)
Driving Duties include:
Safely operate a company-supplied conversion van and box truck making pick-ups and delivering it to and from departments
Safely operate a company-supplied delivery vans making pick-ups and deliveries of firefighter PPE (personal protective equipment)
