Adhere to transportation schedules so that students arrive on time to school or home. Follow all assigned traffic rules, safety procedures, and school expectations for transportation programs. Report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to school administration. Complete related incident reports and comply fully with any accident investigation, insurance claim processing, safety checks, or other inquiries. Participate in any necessary safety drills, driver training, certification procedures, or other steps required to maintain driving credentials. Submit to random drug tests as required according to U.S. Department of Transportation requirements. Implement student procedures to ensure safety on the bus. Make necessary reports to parents and administrators when student behavior is a concern. Communicate professionally with students and parents regarding student needs or concerns; provide timely notice to parents and administrators in the event of any deviations from transportation schedule. Maintain a high level of cleanliness on assigned vehicle(s). Notify the administrator of any necessary repairs or maintenance on assigned vehicle(s). Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require): Basic writing, reading and communications skills as acquired through a high school diploma or higher. Able to read and understand transportation instructions, traffic regulations and signs, and to make written and oral reports to supervisors. Prior experience in driving a bus or commercial vehicle preferred. Driver's license w/ Passenger and School bus endorsements. CPR certification First Aid certification Arizona school bus driver certificate issued by AZDPS/STU Medical Examiner's certificate Physical performance test (PPT) Clear background check including motor vehicle record to enable the individual to be covered through the school's insurance regarding student transportation. Able to communicate professionally and politely with students and parents even in stressful situations such as when the bus is delayed or when an accident has occurred; able to exercise appropriate supervision of students on the bus and to maintain order and discipline. Able to comply with routine safety procedures such as vehicle checks, end-of-shift sweep, and others. Clean pre-employment drug test and willingness to submit to random drug testing. Job Description FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities & Safety DIVISION: Club Operations DIRECT REPORTS: N/A The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting passengers to their destinations in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. JOB RESPONSBILITIES Safely operates charter buses to transport passengers to various destinations, following scheduled routes/stops and adhering to all traffic laws and regulations Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition Provides outstanding customer service, creating a positive and safe experience for passengers Ensures timely departure and arrival at all destinations and familiarity with routing Ability to maintain clear communications with dispatch to report any delays, mechanical issues or other concerns that may impact the charter EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Class B CDL with passenger endorsement Must obtain/maintain a current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler's Certification (within first 90 days of employment) Must have a current DOT medical card Must have a minimum of two (2) years of commercial driving experience with passengers Must have a clean motor vehicle record with no major violations KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS Must be punctual, reliable and professional WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING Travel between Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley site and schools and various field trip sites as well as in the community is required. Full time with Benefits - 25-40 hrs. per week. $15.25 per hour - depending on experience; w/Certificate. The District trains new bus drivers.
