Valid CDL Class A or B with passenger and airbrake endorsement

Perform duties of the dispatcher for Empire's assigned work area. Use discretion and judgment to solve client disputes and dispatch system problems. Professionally assist clients to enhance a positive service image within the department. Determine shipment, delivery, and pickup priorities. Oversee scheduling transport shipments and meet delivery commitments. Assist in the most efficient use of drivers and equipment. Maintain cost control for overtime and expenses. Maintain the proper mix of company and for hire trucks on the road at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee dispatching of Empire trucks locally, statewide, branch-store and/or nationally for assigned work area.
Assign tractors and trailers according to the type of load, point of origin, and destination.
Oversee drivers' activities and offer assistance as needed.
Ensure the staff is on task with their duties. Oversee the expenses and recovery of the permits and escorts.
Oversee the communications between the clients and drivers for assigned work area.
Maintain control over the outside hauling expenses and recovery.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES
Safely operates charter buses to transport passengers to various destinations, following scheduled routes/stops and adhering to all traffic laws and regulations
Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition
Provides outstanding customer service, creating a positive and safe experience for passengers
Ensures timely departure and arrival at all destinations and familiarity with routing

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Participate in any necessary safety drills, driver training, certification procedures, or other steps required to maintain driving credentials. Submit to random drug tests as required according to U.S. Department of Transportation requirements.
Implement student procedures to ensure safety on the bus. Make necessary reports to parents and administrators when student behavior is a concern.
Communicate professionally with students and parents regarding student needs or concerns; provide timely notice to parents and administrators in the event of any deviations from transportation schedule.
Maintain a high level of cleanliness on assigned vehicle(s).

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

The bus driver will operate a school-owned, 40-passenger bus, traveling with students and staff members to off campus events, and returning them back to campus afterward. EVALUATION
