Ability to pass a fit test. Position may include duties that require wearing a face mask where a seal is critical. Incumbent may be required to not have facial hair that interferes with a tight seal of the respirator.

We are looking for a part-time Van Driver to transport our lovely individuals to and from our Adult Day Program in Beverly.
What you will do
The driver is responsible for picking program participants up at their home and dropping them off at the program location in Wakefield. You will get to know some great individuals as you help them to start and end their day.
The pay rate for this position is $19.00 per hour.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The hours are 7:30am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 4:30pm. Drivers are required to work both the morning and afternoon shifts.

Ensuring the safe and punctual transportation of individuals to their program/place of employment and to and from home.
Notifying Director of vehicle/equipment deficiencies and maintaining cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
Providing assistance as needed to people supported when entering and leaving the vehicle.
Completing monthly vehicle maintenance/safety checklist and turning it in to the Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
High School diploma is required.
At least three years of experience driving required.
A physical examination as well as drug and alcohol testing is required once an offer of employment has been made.
A valid Massachusetts driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI and fingerprinting.

Schedule: Per diem; specific days and hours may vary, 4-8 hours weekly
Nature of Work: The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation to older adults in the community; confirming rides, picking up and dropping off in a timely manner, informing supervisor of routine maintenance to be scheduled with DPW and/or GATRA; cleans the bus inside and out, weather permitting, completes daily statistic log, and treats each rider with dignity, respect, kindness and patience. Ability to meet state and local requirements for working with elder populations and relate to older adults in a comfortable fashion with genuine interest, compassion, and concern for their needs and feelings. Must possess good verbal, written, and organizational skills.
Supervision Received: Under the general direction of the Transportation Coordinator and the supervision of the Front Office Manager, the employee is familiar with the work routine and uses initiative in carrying out assignments independently. The supervisor provides additional specific instruction for new, difficult or unusual assignments, including suggested work methods. The employee is expected to recognize instances which are out of the ordinary and which do not fall within existing instructions; the employee is then expected to seek advice and further instructions. Reviews and checks of the employee's work are applied to an extent sufficient to keep the supervisor aware of progress, and to insure that completed work and methods used are technically accurate and that instructions are being followed.
Supervisory Responsibility: Employee, as a regular and continuing part of the job, is required to supervise the Bus Drivers.
Confidentiality: Employee has access to confidential information obtained during performance of regular position responsibilities in accordance with the State Public Records Law.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: High school degree with 1-3 years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Special Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment DOT Physical and Drug test. Possess a current MA Drivers License, safe driving record, pass a physical exam every two years per DOT regulations, or more frequently if required by the GATRA contract and complete required training per GATRA rules and random drug screenings. Subject to FTA drug and alcohol testing regulations and authority.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skill
Knowledge: Common policies, practices, laws, regulations and procedures of the Senior Center and procedures pertinent to the position functions and the Senior Center operations.
Abilities: Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with the public and co-workers, meet and deal with the public effectively and appropriately; ability to handle problems and emergencies effectively; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain confidential information.

Safety Sensitive Requirements FTA DOT 49 CFR Part 655.15 Must pass a pre-employment DOT Drug test, per Council on Aging Zero Tolerance Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy for the Town of Duxbury/Greater Attleboro-Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) adopted by the Board of Selectmen on February 22, 2016 detailing Town's antidrug and alcohol misuse policy statement, available to each covered employee, including the following:
(a) The identity of the person, office, branch and/or position designated by the employer to answer employee questions about the employee's anti-drug use and alcohol misuse programs.
(b) The categories of employees who are subject to the provisions of this part.
(c) Specific information concerning the behavior and conduct prohibited by this part.
(d) The specific circumstances under which a covered employee will be tested for prohibited drugs or alcohol misuse under this part.
(e) The procedures that will be used to test for the presence of illegal drugs or alcohol misuse, protect the employee and the integrity of the drug and alcohol testing process, safeguard the validity of the test results, and ensure the test results are attributed to the correct covered employee.
(f) The requirement that a covered employee submit to drug and alcohol testing administered in accordance with this part.

(j) The employer shall inform each covered employee if it implements elements of an anti-drug use or alcohol misuse program that are not required by this part. An employer may not impose requirements that are inconsistent with, contrary to, or frustrate the provisions of this part.

Primary Responsibilities:
Follow all SMOC policies, NAEYC, EEC regulations and Head Start Standards.
Follow SMOC's Transportation Plan.
Follow all safety rules as children board and exit the buses and for the release of children to proper adults.
Comply with all traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
Conduct proper vehicle pre-trip inspection at the start of each day and inspection of bus at the start of each run.
Promptly report all buss maintenance issues to the Transportation Director for the program.
Conduct proper vehicle inspection at the end of each run to ensure that all children have exited the bus.
Additional reviewer must do the same and both will need to sign attendance acknowledging this.
Although we will do our best to have a monitor, there must be a bus monitor on all runs with Head Start children. For childcare we must have a monitor if there are 8 or more children on the run. If there is not a bus monitor because there are less than 8 children and it is a childcare run the driver must call into the center upon arrival for an additional reviewer to come out to check the bus for any children and sign their attendance before they leave the bus. In the case of no monitor the driver must handle the monitor responsibilities as well for example, attendances with times, knowing how many children are on the bus at all times, signing children off, checking ID's ETC.
One person on every run must be certified in First Aid and CPR procedures.
Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
Do all annual trainings such as: Strong start and maintaining at least 8 hours per year.
Participate in drug testing when called upon.
Keep bus interiors clean and safe for the children.
Promptly report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation issues using cell phone or two-way radio.
Renew CDL license as needed, Bus Driver Certificate annually along with self-certification.
Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.
Engage all families by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
In order to maintain the number of hours you are being paid for you may be asked to do other duties including but not limited to: driving the buses to help with regen, gassing up buses, picking up or dropping off buses for maintenance, repairs, picking up food for centers, bringing necessary items from on center to another, etc.
The expectation is that you are working the number of hours you are paid for.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Valid MA CDL with āSā endorsement and School Bus Driver Certificate required
Must have excellent driving record.
Must be comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and able to effectively communicate with children, families and co-workers.
Bilingual Spanish or Portuguese skills a plus.
