Spare BusDrivers are on call for a part-year (during September - June) and part-time (5 hours per day) and typically drive a morning and/or afternoon run for instructional days. Spare BusDrivers may also opt to drive hours for extra- or co-curricular events.
Spare BusDrivers safely drive school buses with air brakes on assigned routes and extra-curricular trips, are responsible for the safety and discipline of passengers, daily routine maintenance including cleaning and washing, pre-trip inspection of the vehicle, and compliance with all AVRCE and government policies, regulations, and legislation.
Spare BusDrivers must be a minimum of 19 years of age, have a current Nova Scotia Operator's License Class 2B with air brake endorsement, a clean driving record, and up-to-date medical and vision tests. They should possess good communication skills, demonstrate reliability and interact courteously and professionally with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
