POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for ensuring safe and timely transportation for company personnel between designated locations. With a strong emphasis on passenger comfort and security, this person must be committed to upholding all traffic regulations and daily inspection of the vehicles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform a daily pre/post trip inspection on the vehicle assigned to you. Must be able to complete level 1 maintenance on the vehicle such as, replenishing oil, windshield wiper fluid, and fuel when needed.
Obey the posted speed limits
Arrive at each shuttle collection point prior to a scheduled departure time.
Have strong abilities to manage passenger behavior for the safety of others and Crystal Mountain property while in transport.
Adhere to the passenger and load capacity for each shuttle vehicle
Convey passengers to and from predetermined pick up and drop off locations
Prior to departure, ensure that all passengers disembark safely with all their personal belongings before leaving to your next drop off/ pick up location.
Communicate with your supervisor on departure times and schedule
Attend required safety meeting and or training as needed.
Report general or driver related incidents to your supervisor
Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to your supervisor

Job Summary:
South Kitsap School District provides paid training for eligible busdriver candidates hired first as Substitute BusDriver trainees. Substitute BusDriver trainees are hired as temporary employees while completing an in-house 4-to-6-week training (training minimum of 30-40 hours) to obtain a CDL Class B, passenger endorsement, airbrakes, and school bus endorsement (valued over $4,000). Within the role of a Substitute BusDriver, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children while being part of a wonder, supportive team. The substitute busdriver will fill in for absent employees as needed. The duties will be to safely transport student to and from school and school-sponsored activities. Most work hours are approximately 5:45am - 9:30am and 1:30pm-5:00pm. The hours vary greatly according to the assignment.
Drivers may be asked to drive at any time of the day. Must be cognizant of and obey all state RCW's and WAC's as they apply to school bus driving. Must follow assigned route schedules, keep route up to date with dispatcher's help and maintain student discipline procedures and training. Substitutes assist in maintain equipment by keeping bus interior clean and reporting vehicle service in accordance with established procedure; be willing to be called upon to serve in the event of a disaster and perform other duties as may be assigned; drive a variety of school buses and drive regardless of the weather.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Driver will be working independently in all types of inclement weather and must be prepared to perform any added duties because of this. Necessary tasks may include but are not limited to pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, squatting, running, climbing, and jumping. Driver will be responsible for safe evacuation of all students from bus when warranted. Driver will have to be constantly alert and aware of all safety factors. Driver is required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors that may include angry or distraught students. The substitute school bus aide will fill vacant bus aide roles and may perform all or some of the responsibilities defined below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise student behavior on the bus to ensure safe travel for all students and passengers.
2. Assist students with mobility restrictions on and off the bus.
3. Assist in loading and unloading of wheelchair bound students.

5. Help students buckle up in car seats and make sure they stay buckled.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a high school education or equivalent (GED).
2. Prior successful instructional experience and/or training working with disabled children preferred.
3. Must be able to maintain good rapport with students, parents, and co-workers.
4. Possess adequate health and physical strength to assist students by repetitive lifting, i.e., ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to exit the bus through rear exit door.
5. Must have or obtain first aid certification.
6. Must demonstrate willingness to learn and apply behavior management techniques.
