What Does A Business Continuity Specialist Do At Borgwarner Inc.

* _
* Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of BWPS (BorgWarner Production System) / Cost Reduction projects.
* Leads training, development, and implementation of Lean principles.
* Supports development and implementation of Lean principles at suppliers through Supply Chain.
* Develops & maintains Lean strategy within location for current and future programs.
* Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization, while maintaining or improving quality.
* Determines proper operator work content and implements solutions to reduce waste while increasing productivity.
* Identifies, leads and facilitates cost reduction and continuous improvement workshops/ events.
* Creates training materials for BWPS/Cost Reduction principles and is the primary trainer of certain specialties within those frameworks.
* Maintains cost reduction and continuous improvement tracking systems and tracks progress against BWPS and cost reduction goals, and develops/maintains Lean assessment process including standard work audit process.
* Secures employee commitment for proactive change management.
* Provides a smooth interchange of ideas and information between supervisor, engineers, co-workers, suppliers, and customers.
* Provides feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with plant and customer requirements.
* Implements standard work, visual factory and error proofing (poka yoke).
* Provides process mapping and value stream mapping, identifying inefficiencies in productivity with a particular focus on layouts and sequencing.
* Supports the business in establishing “best practice.”
* Other responsibilities as required.

* Support and implement business continuity planning efforts within SI.
* Coordinate across other agency components as necessary to support initiatives, guidance, requests for information/data, etc. (e.g., Enterprise Operations, Mission Assurance Office).
* Participate in related training, informational briefings, and respond to related agency taskers as required.
* Maintain the BCP automated database and update as required on behalf of SI.
* Ensure all NGA operational sites receive timely and current information, notices, updates, etc.
* Maintain the NGA alert notification system (NANS) with current and accurate SI contact information.
* Conduct regular and special recall exercises.
* Participate in table-top and full scale exercises (e.g., BCP, COOP, and IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) activities) in accordance with agency guidelines and schedules

* Plan, lead, and facilitate Continuous Improvement events, including Value Stream Mapping, 3P, Cell Design, and Macro Planning.
* Drive improvement of foundational ACE/Continuous Improvement principles, including 5S, VSM, TPM, RRCA, Standard Work, and Process Capability.
* Facilitate the annual Policy Deployment Planning process and weekly reviews for both sites.
* Educate and train leaders and employees on ACE tools and other continuous improvement methods and processes.
* Ensure ACE tools are used across the organization to reduce lead time, reduce cost of poor quality, improve product first pass yield, and improve on-time delivery.

* Assist the implementation of Standard Factory including coaching/guiding the Union, WV Site Lean Transformation Plan, to integrate production with logistics and drive/facilitate the site leadership to execute the plan.
* This includes manufacturing cell design, material presentation/line feeding, takted material delivery, and establishing pull systems with suppliers to minimize inventory and improve on-time delivery.
* Co-chair the Union, Union Town ACE Council including agenda
* This position reports directly to the DRSS ACE Manager, and dotted line to the Union, WV Site Leader
