Summary - Senior Business Subject Matter Expert (SME1)
The Senior Business Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports the Chief Data Officer (CDO) in executing the organization's Data Governance and Management strategy. This role bridges business needs and technical implementation, ensuring that data governance structures, processes, and education initiatives are effectively deployed across the agency. The SME brings deep experience in data architecture, stakeholder engagement, and public sector consulting to operationalize the CDO's vision.
Role Description
Supports the CDO in executing the first-year Data Governance setup activities, including policy rollout, stakeholder engagement, and operational planning.
Leads the development and execution of Statements of Work (SOWs) aligned with the CDO's strategic roadmap.
Designs and implements the operational components of the Data Governance framework, including data classification, cataloging, stewardship models, and lifecycle management.
Develops and delivers targeted education and onboarding sessions for data owners, custodians, stewards, and users to build data literacy and clarify roles.
Collaborates with the CDO to define and document governance roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths.
Provides technical and process guidance to ensure compliance with State of Ohio policies (e.g., IT-19 Data Governance, IT-13 Data Classification) and regulatory standards.
Advises executive stakeholders on governance best practices and change management strategies to support cultural adoption of data accountability.
Assists in identifying and documenting data-related risks, opportunities, and improvement areas to inform the CDO's strategic planning.
Supports the CDO in evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools that enhance data governance and analytics capabilities
Supports the identification and prioritization of data analytics use cases that align with agency goals and governance maturity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a governance playbook, including SOPs, data classification schemas, and data cataloging guidelines.
Coordinate with IT, legal, procurement, and business units to ensure governance processes are integrated into daily operations.
Monitor and report on the progress of governance initiatives, providing updates and recommendations to the CDO and Data Governance Committee.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote a culture of data accountability and stewardship.
Support the CDO in reviewing data-related procurements, technology assessments, and compliance audits.
Mandatory skills
· Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)
and their application in public sector environments.

As Junior Data Analyst you will within Big Data team to deliver meaningful output for use by the business and its customers. In this role, you will be working directly with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, cross functional teams across various teams, both at a Regional and Global level, as well as Technology, Data, Insights & Analytics teams. Responsibilities:
Interpret the data, analyses results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports that will convert into business opportunities.
Work with Management Systems leaders (Product Management and Marketing) and with the experts in the different technologies to priorities business and information needs.
Actively work with the Center of Expertise leaders (Thermal, AC and DC power, Batteries, Generators) to identify the needs for data collection at system, site and network level.
Collect feedback from Technical experts to improve the reports and data collection and verify that the improvements suggested have achieved the expected results.
Define, with the subject matter and product specialists, the data to collect from the systems and site process sold and utilized by Vertiv.
Define strategies to optimize statistics in terms of efficiency and quality, including filter and clean data defining KPI's to identify problems at data base level.
Collaborate with the Monitoring solution architects to assure the efficiency of the data collection in different projects and solutions.
Work with the Global and regional teams to design, develop and maintain the Service Analytics concept. Develop and maintain the Global Data Lake used in conjunction with the Analytics Service organization plus other requirements as needed by the company.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
Working experience for minimum 1-2 years as a data analyst or business data analyst preferably oriented to IoT and M2M environments.
Technical knowledge regarding data (models, mining, cleansing, segmentation) and database design techniques.
Good knowledge and experience with BI reporting packages (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), databases (SQL, etc.), programming (Python, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks).
Modeling skills to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment text representations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyses, and disseminate significant amounts of information from different technical environments.
Knowledge and capability to understand specific applications in the Data Center, Telecom, Industrial and Edge segments.

**What You'll be Doing:**
As a Business Analysis Manager, you will independently execute specialized tasks and support team projects to ensure quality outcomes. You will leverage your analytical expertise to drive significant business insights and process improvements, contributing to the achievement of strategic business goals.
Our ideal candidate has hands-on experience in ORM and EHS implementation, a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and the ability to work from one of our Eastern U.S. offices two days per week to better collaborate with our Europe-based team.

**Key Tasks: **
+ Perform specialized operations analyses to inform strategic decisions.
+ Develop and implement sophisticated process analyses and mappings.
+ Independently identify and drive process improvement initiatives.
+ Maintain a comprehensive and current record of business operations.
+ Support key financial administrative tasks for the business unit.
+ Prepare detailed and sophisticated financial reports and budgets.
+ Contribute to strategic annual and long-term business planning efforts.
+ Lead and manage specialized and complex projects.
+ Provide high-level data analysis and present insights to senior management.
+ Ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of business insights and recommendations.
**You're a Great Fit if You Have/Can:**
+ 4-year degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
+ BusinessAnalyst Foundation or similar is a plus
+ Specialized Data Analysis: Expertise in conducting granular data analysis.
+ Strategic Process Analysis: Proficiency in advanced process evaluation.
+ Financial Strategy: Advanced capability in financial reporting and budgeting.
+ Communication and Influence: Strong presentation and persuasion skills.
+ Project Leadership: Ability to lead specialized projects independently.
+ Advanced Tool Proficiency: Mastery of tools like SQL, Tableau, Python, and R.
+ Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business operations and trends.
+ Critical Insight: High-level analytical and problem-solving acumen.
+ Skilled in requirements analysis and global implementation across key business domains, including: Permit To Work, Barrier Management, Operational Safety, Plant Management, Environmental, Health & Safety Management, Compliance Management, Process Safety Management.
+ Functional knowledge of key business domains such as EHS, Compliance and Operational Risk, with experience aligning Enablon capabilities to business processes and objectives
+ Experience on multiple projects across a variety of industries and applications
+ Experience in Software Product Development
+ Experience as a Consultant or BusinessAnalyst in the software industry.
+ Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
+ Demonstrable knowledge of software development lifecycle and activities.
+ A strong understanding of software Agile methodologies
