General Summary:

Reporting to the Director Business Intelligence/Analytics, builds and supports business intelligence and analytics initiatives to enhance departmental and organizational effectiveness, efficiency and safety. Works closely with other Information Technology staff to plan and implement strategies. Writes, clarifies, and interprets specifications for reports and translates specifications into report. Investigates, analyzes, and evaluates customer desires to asses reporting needs. Designs, documents, develops, tests, implements, and maintains user reports. Recommends guidelines, standards, and methodology changes as needed.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. 2 years of experience in one or more of the roles listed below, or four years of commensurate experience. This position requires experience with and knowledge of Crystal Report Development, SQL script development, and an operational understanding of the components of the technologies that support a hospital system. In addition, skills in Epic Clarity report development preferred. Intermediate to advanced skills are required in the functional areas above.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


Conducts analysis of departmental, organizational, and individual information needs relative to specific assignments. Analyzes system performance, data integrity and security requirements in development and resolution work. Documents all phases of project and product life cycles. Provides technical assistance in resolving developed tools issues Remains technically current in areas specifically assigned. Establishes and continues development toward personal career goals. Develops or participates in development of reports, queries, scripts, and system testing strategies. Supports and educates others in support of applications and tools developed, as well as third party applications assigned. SQL and other report development. Participates in support of applications that require scripting methodologies. Assists in any other activity as assigned

Motion is hiring a Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer to support our Finance/Accounting functions. This role will utilize various analytical and programming skills to develop solutions for all functional areas of Finance. Key Responsibilities



Routinely meets with various stakeholders to understand their data needs. Develops solutions and processes to fulfill requirements. This typically includes B.I dashboards, Python programs, or Excel/VBA reports. Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing reports, analyses, programs, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions. Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, & validation.



Qualifications



Advanced SQL and experience with a variety of relational databases. Working experience with an object-oriented language: Python, Java, C++, etc. 2+ years of work experience with a B.I tool: (Qlik preferred). Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance multiple priorities. Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with other departments and work collaboratively Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance/Accounting, or related field preferred. Previous experience working in Finance or Accounting related functions is a plus.

This position will contribute to organizational improvement by developing databases, gathering and analyzing data, designing actionable visualizations, and introducing process improvements throughout the reporting cycle using business intelligence software such as PowerBI and Tableau. Utilizing familiarity with SQL and servers, and other reporting tools to design and deploy these systems. Frequent collaboration with stakeholders to monitor gap analysis improvement, IT professionals to troubleshoot systems, develop peer alliances and train end users.

Performs research and evaluation of complex projects and assignments requiring advanced knowledge and experience to identify and measure process methodologies, financial implications, and/or technical & operational applications.Makes recommendations to leadership and will initiate implementation of new protocols, methodologies, equipment, and processes.This classification is cross functional, and may be utilized within all business fields including, but not limited to, operations, logistics, finance, laboratory, technical, sales, and administration.
What to Expect

Design, build, and maintain dashboards for use by Supply Chain departments Define business and technical requirements based on GAP analysis & optimization of execution and outcomes Elicit input from multiple stakeholders and integrate feedback to identify the optimal solution, train users on reporting tools Contribute to maintaining an environment where continuous improvement of the development process is in focus Actively try to identify areas of improvement and conceptualize methods on how to be more efficient. Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems. Perform all other duties and projects as assigned


Schedule


Monday - Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm), Hybrid position, one day a week in Albany, NY office


Education / Qualifications


1-3 years of reporting/analytical experience or equivalent bachelor's degree. 1-3 years of Tableau and Power BI experience required. Project management experience preferred.
