Purpose & Scope: Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence and Integration, the Epic Clinical Business Intelligence Developer (BID) serves as a reporting resource for the Epic Cogito application and is responsible for building and managing clinical reporting across the enterprise. This individual analyzes, provide specifications for, and writes reports for assigned applications to support the needs of the Epic project team, clinical leadership, and other end users/ stakeholders. In the process, the BID will contribute to the uncovering of insights that drive improved patient care, quality and efficiency of operations, a data driven strategy, and optimal decision making for clinical leaders across the organization. The BID has the responsibility of reporting system support and maintenance, analysis, design, and change control of all components used to build and manage assigned reports, metrics, queries, extracts, dashboards, and other reporting tools. The BID will work closely with all levels of staff, leadership, and other clinical and operational end users to translate business needs into technical reporting requirements. The BID is responsible for validating existing foundation system reports and identifying and producing custom reporting content, optimization, and performance enhancement opportunities. To succeed in this role, the individual must be innately curious, deeply analytical, highly driven, and a strong communicator. Required Experience: Bachelor's Degree or two or more years of applicable experience Epic Reporting Certifications: Cogito, Clarity or Caboodle Data Model Four or more years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in a professional healthcare/hospital setting, working with business users in developing analytical solutions to meet clinical and operational/ business needs Three years or more demonstrated experience with relational database concepts, querying and/or analyzing clinical data, using SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting. design, build, test, validation, and maintenance Training and some expertise with some of the following: OLAP, Oracle, SQL Server, T-SQL, PLSQL, XML, HTML, other query tools. Essential Functions Design Logical Data Models and their physical schema design in Oracle 11g/10g database Build databases depicting the physical design Create Tables, Views, Indexes and Sequences Develop PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, SQL statements in Oracle 11g/10g Manage database security - Users, Roles, Privileges and Synonyms Performance Tuning including tuning/optimizing SQL, PL/SQL code Work with XML, large objects Develop routines in Oracle using SQL*Loader , third party vendor APIs to load/integrate data between systems Preparation of development estimates and design documents Qualifications Extensive Experience in designing data models and building Databases in Oracle 11g/10g Proven Development Experience in SQL and PL/SQL Programming in Oracle 11g/10g in a Unix Environment Experience working with XML Experience in Database Schema creation and management Experience with Oracle Performance Tuning Experience working with development tools like TOAD Strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
