A business system administrator is in charge of installing, maintaining, and upgrading a company's technological systems. Without their work, businesses would not be able to use software that is crucial for sharing information and conducting business processes in the modern day.

It should go without saying that the business system administrator needs to be handy with technology. They install and maintain important software, manage servers, and ensure that all data and networks are secure. A business system administrator also needs to be very good at working with people, because they supervise a whole team of IT workers and teach others in the company how to use technology.

Like in many technology related jobs, most business system administrators are men, about 60-70% of them. In fact, the gender disparity has gotten slightly worse over the past ten years. Maybe it's about time that the pendulum swung in the opposite direction!

What general advice would you give to a business system administrator?

I think there will be an impact, both visible and invisible, for years to come. One of the big changes will be in how we do things. The change to remote and virtual business will probably never be fully reversed.
