This is a fully remote, asynchronous teaching role that emphasizes student support, feedback, and mentorship rather than live instruction. Teachers at MOHS do not create lesson plans or deliver live classes; instead, they guide students through our self-paced curriculum on MiaPrep.com, providing coaching, small-group tutoring, and in-depth feedback on summative assignments. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, all MOHS teachers also serve as Academic Advisors to a caseload of up to 30 students, building relationships and helping students meet their goals. Group Tutoring: Host weekly virtual group tutoring several times per week to clarify curriculum concepts, address questions, and offer additional support for social studies topics and assignments. Academic Advising: Maintain a caseload of students for whom you will provide academic advising, including quarterly check-ins, and in some cases, targeted support plans. Tiered Support: Identify struggling students and, together with the Student Support Specialist and Academic Counselors, proactively provide tiered support solutions to enhance their academic performance. Parental and Student Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for both parents and students in academic matters in your subject area, ensuring a constructive channel of communication. School Community Engagement: Actively participate in school initiatives and contribute to the creation and implementation of school-wide academic policies.     The School-Based Resource Teacher for Mathematics provides expert attention to the needs of students in the area of mathematics and supports teachers in the implementation of effective mathematics instruction. Roles and Responsibilities The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. Assesses the mathematics strengths and needs of students, provides that information to parents and educational staff, and uses the results to support the planning and implementation of an effective mathematics intervention program for the students Coordinates the administration of mathematics assessments, examines the use of data from the assessments, and monitors student progress Provides mathematics intervention to students who are struggling with mathematics Supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching to implement a quality mathematics program that meets the needs of students and works with teachers, support staff, and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the mathematics program with the full curriculum Leads professional development in mathematics, provides information on conceptual development of mathematics, models strategies or techniques, conducts demonstration or collaborative lessons, and coaches or mentors teachers Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum standards in mathematics Completes training as requested by the Department of Teaching and Learning Attends monthly math department collaboration meetings to provide aligned services and resources for teachers and students in the area of mathematics Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.     Job Description History/ Social Studies Teacher GGA is an all-girls public charter school committed to empowering young women through rigorous academics, strong character development, and leadership opportunities. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join our team and foster a love of learning, critical thinking, and civic engagement in our students. Key Expectations: GGA instructors submit lesson plans weekly. Lesson plans are reviewed by the Academic Program Coordinator and feedback is provided. Advisory classes are an important part of school culture at GGA. Students work on college and career readiness, social and emotional learning and academics in these daily classes. The advisor is an important part of a student's support network at GGA, and most instructors are assigned an advisory class. Advisory lessons are provided and the instructor facilitates sessions, grades assignments, and maintains a strong relationship and line of communication with advisees' caregivers. Culture support in the hallways and at lunch is expected. Instructors are assigned an arrival and dismissal duty, and are added to a master schedule to support hallways for one period everyday. At GGA we believe that we are partners in education with our student's caregivers. Together we support students and ensure they achieve their fullest potential. To do this, GGA gives dedicated work time on a Wednesday to reach out to caregivers. It is expected that instructors maintain continued lines of communication with caregivers through grading, calling and emailing home and facilitating twice annual Student Led Conferences.
