Butler Hospital company history timeline
Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is the state's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.
Mary began her career at Butler in 1992 as a therapist in the occupational therapy department, ultimately becoming director.
Previously serving as Deputy Medical Director for Clinical Services, Doctor Sullivan joined Butler in 2007 as Assistant Unit Chief on the Kent Unit.
Charles Alexandre, PhD, RN, joined Butler Hospital in 2012 with leadership responsibilities in quality and regulation.
A past president of Butler Hospital’s Medical Staff Association, Doctor Sullivan was awarded the Robert J. Westlake Award for Physician Excellence in 2013.
Stephen E. Burke, CPA, MBA joined Care New England in January 2015 and subsequently joined Butler Hospital in March 2015.
Doctor Sullivan also recieved the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Exemplary Psychiatrist Award in 2017.
