Butler Memorial Hospital company history timeline
Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is the state's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.
The city purchased the building on June 13, 1930 for the purpose of housing the City offices.
He then completed 1 year of training in geriatric psychiatry through the Brown University Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program at Butler Hospital graduating in June 1999.
Previously serving as Deputy Medical Director for Clinical Services, Doctor Sullivan joined Butler in 2007 as Assistant Unit Chief on the Kent Unit.
Charles Alexandre, PhD, RN, joined Butler Hospital in 2012 with leadership responsibilities in quality and regulation.
Stephen E. Burke, CPA, MBA joined Care New England in January 2015 and subsequently joined Butler Hospital in March 2015.
In August of 2017, Diane was named Associate Chief Nursing Officer and has played an important role as a member of the hospital’s executive management team.
Doctor Sullivan also recieved the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Exemplary Psychiatrist Award in 2017.
